My wife and I had lunch at the restaurant here (excellent, too) and she discovered it
is also a hotel. We needed a place to stay so made a reservation for the next night.

A very comfortable hotel. Rooms are very clean. Queen sized beds, mostly, I believe.
Great bathroom. We didn't use the TV. Internet is the only complaint - no reception on 5th
floor. I use the lobby and it works very well.

Front desk staff is great. Especial thanks to Yuri (Judy) for her help and friendly service.
Location great. Near Starbucks and Post Office plus local shopping and many restaurants.
Taxi's are, it seems, $15 to anywhere. Near some of the cruise ship docks. Our ship is a
$15 ride away!

Glad we stay here.

Room Tip: No internet 5th floor. Not sure of other floors. Entire 6th floor is a suite!

The Cervantes hotel is a small gem in old town San Juan. The whole place is elegantly appointed. The rooms are charming. A beautifully presented continental breakfast is provided in the morning. The staff is extremely helpful and cheerful. In fact, the afternoon of our departure old town was being inundated by people for some festival. The street was clogged and one of the hotel staff went down the street to the intersection and flagged a taxi for us. Our room had a balcony overlooking a back street. Taxi is the only way to get there from the airport and cost us $23 (which includes a fuel surcharge). The hotel is within walking distance to Castillo San Cristóbal and Cristo Chapel allowing the opportunity to visit the fort and the chapel before boarding your ship. Also within walking distance are some really excellent restaurants. The cruise ship docks are close by and easily reached by short taxi ride.

The Cervantes location is perfect for seeing Old San Juan. We were well received and shown our room. The bathroom was clean and modern with a great shower that provided tons of good hot water. The bed was good. We liked the balcony, although the balcony doors provided a good opportunity for road noise to enter. We were on the fourth floor, on Tetuan St. Both mornings we were there they picked up the trash at around 4:30 am which sounded like a billion beer bottles being dumped into a truck. You can imagine. And since you are near the cruise ship docks you get some noise from partying folks. The staff was very helpful and called a taxi for us and made sure that it arrived. The breakfast was good, would have liked a piece of fruit in addition to the bread and yogurt provided. The coffee was excellent. I would stay at the Chateau Cervantes again.

Room Tip: I think if you could get a room facing Recinto Sur versus Tetuan, you might not have to hear the tra...

Chateau Cervantes is great hospitable small boutique hotel. It is located just 2 streets of the marina and right at the lower corner of OSJ. The front desk upon arriving was incredibly hospitable. Michelle and Brian went out of their way to give information and help with exploring OSJ. Michelle brought all of our many bags - 8 up our room. See gave us a tour of our room and its ammenities. We decided to book the Cervantes Suite on the 4th floor. This room occupies the whole front of the hotel. The room comfotably handles 4 people with its sofabed. The room has a sitting area, powder room, bar area w/ 2 stools, full width balcony - 40', king bed, bathroom w/ walk-in shower (no bathtub) bidet & toilet. The continental breakfast was very nice with hot rolls, cheeses, yougurt, etc. Michelle actually made each cup of coffee with the expresso machine - nice touch. The taxi fare was $33 US w/ tip to the hotel. Only compliant is that it can be loud very late at night, there are clubs close to hotel and people party very late in San Juan. I have ear plugs,so problem solved. Earplugs should be provided to all rooms due to its busy location and potential for late night noise. We are coming back next year for Thanksgiving again and yes we will stay here again. Thanks Chateau Cervantes.

Room Tip: Cervantes Suite, bring earplugs, OSJ is a hot spot for late night clubs.

Not perfect, but the location is hard to beat, and the room was comfortable. Unlike another reviewer, our biggest problem with the A/C was that it was so cold after the cleaning crew left. Getting a room on the back side keeps the noise level down somewhat, but, well, it's on the restaurant street, and another restaurant and bar street is at the end of the block. Such is life -- it's like complaining that the airport hotel has the noise of airplanes. Breakfast was good, and the staff was helpful and nice. I could easily stay here again when coming to San Juan.

Room Tip: Ask for the back side -- the street is a little quieter

Had done lots of research and decided on a king suite at the Cervantes. In the photos I saw a large balcony we could sit out on and enjoy a glass of wine. On getting to our room there was no balcony and 2 small windows. I asked for the manager and told them I was not happy at all. She informed me the hotel was full but she may have a solution. We stepped into the elevator and went up. When the doors opened we were not in a hall but in the Presidential Suites living room. This stunning suite covers the entire top floor of the hotel. "Would this be to your satisfaction?" I was very happy for the $150 or whatever I had paid. They definately saved it!!!
