I have an upcoming reservation at this property, but was concerned with the reviews that have stated the this property has Air Conditioning and hot water problems. I contacted the hotel, and asked the front desk if this was in fact the case. The employee said that the A/C had been fixed (although recent reviews say that it has not been) but that the hot water issue has not been fixed on the top floor.

Although the rooms look modern and updated, I would be leary to stay at this property until these problems are resolved.

Let me assure you that the problems mentioned were immediately resolved. When you stay with us you will have no inconvenience and will be able to enjoy Old San Juan as much as our hotel.

We stayed at the Cervantes the night before our cruise departed from San Juan. The location was perfect – very close to both of the forts in Old San Juan, restaurants, and most anything else you’d want to see in the area. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and more than met our needs. We even had a balcony with a cute view of a quiet street. The continental breakfast was included, but only consisted of bread, muffins, and a pastry, plus coffee and juice – it would have been nice to have fresh fruit, but oh well. The restaurant looked very nice but we opted for something a little less formal elsewhere. Overall it was very pretty, well maintained, and the staff was great.

The staff at this small hotel were as good as it gets. Helpful, friendly just nice people. The hotel is fine, the rooms are nice and the food in the Bar / Resturant was great and shouldn't be missed. My one wish was to have coffee available before 8:30.

Stayed for one night on 12/16/2011. I had booked the King's Suite but was given a Junior Suite The front desk manager was pleasant but did not seem overly concerned. The suite was nice and the bathroom was big. The lighting in the suite was very dim, even with every light on. There was construction on the floor above us and both our landing and the elevator were dirty from sand and concrete. Breakfast was served in a very elegant dinning area, but was limited in variety and quantity. The location was great. I have mixed feelings about whether I would go back to the Chateau Cervantes on my next visit or if I could recommend it.

The wife and I stayed here for 4 nights prior to joining a cruise. Unlike some others experience, the taxi driver came straight to the door. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better, right in the middle of things. We stayed in a room on the third floor at the back of the hotel. It was quiet and peacefull and everything worked as it should. In spite of street parties on the Friday and Saturday nights we were not disturbed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would have given the hotel 5 stars but the continental breakfast is a bit of a hit or miss affair and not worth hanging around for. Go to one of the many coffee shops instead.

All the recommended tourist sites were within easy walking distance although the free trolley passed by the hotel's front door. The San Cristobal fortress was with 5 block and Fort Morro with 12 or 13. The bus station is 4 blocks down the street with the fares being either 50c or 70c. Far cheaper than the taxis which were pretty expensive. One can either tender the exact fare or purchase a travel car at the vending machine in the front of the station.

If you have time take the ferry over the bay to visit the Bacardi factory. It's worthwhile and far cheaper than taking an organised tour.

Room Tip: The back of the hotel is better as the front is on a main street and may be noisier if you retire earlier.
