We took the morning walking tour of Old San Juan. We enjoy guided walking tours in walkable locales (Old San Juan most definately is!) at the start of a visit to places we've never been to get an introduction, get oriented, see some things we'd never figure out on on our own, and get some insider recommendations. This tour met all of those expectations but what really set it apart was the engaing manner in which the information was provided with solid historical commentary and some "legends" sprinkled in for effect.

We took the Legends of Old San Juan walking tour on a recent two day stay-over in San Juan prior to a cruise. The experience was fantastic. Debbie was engaging and knowledgeable, and we packed a ton of sightseeing into the two hour tour, with plenty of rest stops and a couple of restroom breaks along the way. Debbie even gave us photography tips and--BONUS--took the best pictures of us together that we got the entire trip. She even recommended a place for us to go get good Puerto Rican food after the tour. Wear good walking shoes, but all but the most mobility challenged should be able to handle the terrain and the pace. We will certainly use the tour company again on any future trips to Puerto Rico.

We met Noemi right outside our hotel (The Sheraton OSJ - Great Hotel! - on the Old San Juan waterfront) - would you believe we were the only two who had signed up that day and the tour still went on! There are a lot of tour companies who would cancel in that situation - but not this professional company. Noemi was a delight - with a voice that was easy to hear and understanding and an entertaining manner of sharing her tales.

The tour wound around the streets of Old San Juan with frequent stops and interesting stories - some true, some those legends :) She took us into historic, religious, and government locations - and was attentive to our age and occasional needs to sit while listening. I am confident she could have handled every age and kept all engaged - so I recommend this tour for families as well as single, couples, empty-nesters and/or groups.

To top it off - the tour ends up by the fort so you can continue touring on your own without needing to climb back up. This was a welcome surprise because I really expected to circle back down to the waterfront.

I strongly encourage you to take this tour to get your baseline for San Juan - they provide a good foundation on which you can build the rest of your day or trip.

The tour was very informative and covered a lot of ground, but we went with a 2 yr old. We brought a stroller and found the sidewalks were very narrow and cobblestone streets didn't allow for easy use of a stroller. Plus one of us was chasing after our son and missed a lot of the information from Debbie. I would recommend a bus tour (there were many that met our cruise ship offering tours for $10) for those with little children. But if you're up for 2 hrs of walking you will learn a lot on this tour.

We only had one night to visit Old San Juan. We decided to do the Night Tales tour and did not regret it. Debbie our guide was very informative and friendly. We saw just enough to make us want to come back for another visit. Debbie also recommended a great restaurant and walked us to their door and got us a table. She goes above and beyond your expecations.
