We rented Sylvia's house for a conference week. The house is absolutely amazing, both architecturally and also emotionally, it really has a great vibe. The location is great, right by the beach, and the garden, kitchen and rooms have obviously been constructed with much love. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend at the house throughout this week. Sylvia is amazing, and was super helpful with all our needs. I have no doubt that if and when I return to Puerto Rico, this is where I will stay, and I would highly recommend it for all my friends. Thank you Sylvia, for being great.

Room Tip: I stayed at the Geisha room and loved it. It has a shared shower, but quite frankly I quickly starte...

We had a wonderful trip. I was pleasantly surprised when Sylvia offered to pick up up at the Airport. Sylvia is a gracious host, very friendly & helpful. I had seen the pictures on the internet and knew what to expect (very good marketing). The house is lovely, airy and light; a piece of art in itself. The "enthusiastic dogs" Sylvia mentioned are VERY well behaved. No worries if your not a dog lover, but if you are, it's a definite plus.
Wifi & AC both worked great. I had good cell (TMobile & ATT) reception too (better than mine at home). No TV - which was great. Plenty of time to read and watch the birds & lizards (both beautiful in their own way).
The location is very good. Not too Far from the airport, not too far from the old city. The house is 2 blocks from the beach & 2 blocks from the most amazing bakery/cafeteria I've been to outside of Europe. We took the bus to San Juan Viejo a couple of times. It's not secret that the transit system is bad. However, if you're adventurous (& patient), it's not the worst; we met several nice people. It was my vacation and I definitely did not want to worry about traffic. The house is about 15 minutes walking distance to Candado if you want trendy or US franchised restaurants. There are a few local places nearby, as well as a mini market. The 24 hour grocery store is not too far, either. Great if you have a car. We actually visited in June on 2012, but Trip Advisor did not go back that far. Overall it was very good - A++ We would definietly do it again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
San Juan’s only vegetarian hotel is located in the pristine neighborhood of Ocean Park, only 200 steps from the beach. From here it is a 10 minute walk to the highly touristic area of Condado and a short 10 minute ride to the Old City or the airport. In 2017 The Dreamcatcher was awarded Top 10 International Bed&Breakfast and it has been rated #1 hotel in Puerto Rico for four years in a row. Guests may sign up for yoga and meditation classes, take part in sightseeing tours, do paddle boarding, or opt for nature-adventure tours outside of the typical touristy options. They may also rent a bicycle and go for a ride around the neighborhood beaches or the popular Loíza Street. The famous three-course breakfast is served daily by local chef Jerome who has been specializing in vegan and vegetarian cuisine since 2003. You may also choose between juice blends, homemade hemp milk and kombucha elixirs made with all natural ingredients. The Dreamcatcher is proud to be supporting this type of experience in which guests enjoy healthy foods as they spend some time away from home. Everything about this inn suggests relaxation,” according to the March 2014 issue of New York Magazine. It smells of incense, as one can listen to the meditation music in the background and hear the flow of water from the fountain. At almost every corner of this captivating place, from guest rooms to common areas, there are dreamcatchers. These artifacts can be traced back to the native people of North America who used to make them by hand, as symbols of protection from nightmares and enablers of only beautiful dreams. And these happen to be the same positive vibes The Dreamcatcher team wants to send its guests as they walk in the main door. ... more   less
