“Cool place”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Right by the cemetery, lots of opportunities for photos, can take the free tram or do some walking. We liked the fact that you could buy one entrance for two for 10 bucks then visit both San Cristobal and Del Morro. We opted to walk and take lots of pics. Others were flying kites which was cool to watch. Very near to museums as well.

“Nice walk and good for history buffs.”

Tremendous views. Park Service runs this and is v helpful. The Castillo and all of Old San Juan reminded me of older villages in Spain that I have visited. The European style walled city of Old San Juan may be the only one like it in the US.

“Larger than Life. Impressive.”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

The descriptions online of this historic site do not do justice to the magnificence of El Morro. This was one of the best experiences of our trip.Carry a bottle of water, put on your walking shoes and do check out the entire fortress. A long paved road leads up to the entrance of the fortress. Both sides of this road has open grass parks where people were flying kites, walking their pets or just chilling. If you like movies like Troy, this fortress is your paradise. There is a 5.50 $ entrance fee. Steeped in history, with a large expanse, multiple levels and tons of secret rooms/passages, you can easily spent 2 hours here, in awe of the place. Looking over the sea, El Morro makes for a very picturesque view. Once you get inside, you will be surprised with the architecture. Each room/section has placards giving contexts for that area or a story. There are even pictures showing evolution of different parts of the fortress over time. They built the entire thing over 250 years! If you are a history buff, you'll be in love with El Morro. Walls and stairs weathered over time, lighthouses, canons, firing areas, hideouts and so much more grandiose. The highlight of Old San Juan, you cannot help but feel grateful for this historic piece. Must visit!
