We stayed there 2 nights prior to a cruise. The staff were very helpful and even helped us locate a rental vehicle for a single day-trip out to the rainforest. They stored our bags on the last day so we could go into old San Juan for morning and early afternoon, return to pick up our bags and head for the cruise ship.

Stayed at Miramar a night before going on a cruise. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean. Ate at attached bistro...was good. Miramar is not a big hotel or a fancy one, but it is nice. I would stay again. Only bad thing I could say is we paid for a lagoon view and did not get it.

Room Tip: Martin at desk was very helpful. Grocery store right down the road, but does not open until 11 on Sundays.

This was my second stay in this good value hotel. You can walk to Old San Juan (about 1.2 miles) or to the beach or Condado Lagoon for a swim or grab a bus to just about anywhere. The bistro restaurant is small, but provides some tasty options (including an excellent fruit salad and oatmeal for breakfast (specify no sugar or cream added and bring your own yogurt). There is a fridge and microwave in the room.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are quieter, but in the front you get an ocean view.

A one nighter before the cruise. We found the room very clean and spacious, king bed, the whole hotel seemed well kept. Staff very helpful and friendly. Had to wait awhile for hot water in the shower, but it was adequate. Pleasant up on the roof looking over the city at night and in the morning. Bistro Cafe wasn't much to write home about but we only did a breakfast. Ate in the evening at a nice restaurant a block up the street, next morning went further up the street, having to buy some essentials, pharmacy and grocery 2 blocks up and if you need clothes or such ( having left some stuff at home), there is a Marshalls about 5 blocks, seemed a nice enough area. 5 min. to Pan American pier and our ship, further of course to the other cruise pier. Frankly, it was half the price of the bigger chains and well worth it...

If you are looking for a moderately priced hotel in a relatively safe place to stay, this hotel fits the bill. Our room was very nice (king sized bed, very comfortable), very clean, and quiet even though we faced the street (we were on the 7th floor). --comparable to a Holiday Inn. There is no pool, breakfast or other special amenities, but there are reasonably priced restaurants near by and a small pharmacy and grocery store for those last minute forgotten items. We spent 2 nights here prior to our cruise. It is near one of the ports for the cruise ship, so if you are considering this be sure to check with your cruise line. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful, and set us up for a 'city tour' for the day following our arrival.
Note: it is not in the 'old San Juan' area which is very popular, but the cost savings is worth it.
