“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

We were staying at the Caribe Hilton and were looking for a place to walk to. We were referred to El Livin by the concierge at the Hilton. El Livin is kind of hard to find, since it is on the 2nd floor of a building in a park. It was definitely worth the effort of locating it. The food and service were excellent. It is a superb alternative to the overpriced restaurants at the Hilton. My wife had the Risotto and I had the Skirt Steak, both were fantastic. I recommend eating at El Livin.

“El Livin--a great alternative to to the best resaurants in Old Sa Juan.”
Reviewed February 18, 2012

El Livin is a small quaint restaurant with an open air vibe near the Caribe Hilton. This restaurant was a great find. The atmosphere is very unique. The food was amazing and the service provided by Angel V was world class. We ate at some great restaurants during our visit to Puert Rico but El Livin rates at the top.

“Great restaurant with awesome food and service and lovely staff”
Reviewed January 1, 2012

We got this restaurant's name from Hilton staff and the first night when we tried to find this restaurant we failed as it is in the park and it was very dark around and there was no sound coming from the restaurant(we really thought the restaurant was closed).. For some reason we decided to give it a try again in couple of days after our first try and that time we figured the restaurant parking lot is not right next to the restaurant and so it seems so deserted around the restaurant. When you take the stairs you see a beautiful actually almost hidden restaurant :)

Whatever we tried at El Livin was very tasty very well serviced and pretty expensive (well worthed though:)).

Another nice thing about this restaurant was that we didn't see any tourists other than ourselves having dinner, which gave us the chance of experiencing real Puerto Rico :)

“Fresh concept, bad customer service”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

I love to support new and different bars that open in PR and was eager to try El Livin. My experience wasn't as great as I expected. As this is the season, we had to attend a holiday party so we opted instead for nightcaps at El Livin. We arrived at 12:45am and the parking attendant indicated that he "thought" the bar would close at 1am, but he "wasn't sure." We went ahead and paid for parking anyway to see if they would be open until later. We enter as the bartender yells "last call," so we decide quick what we want. Then a server approaches us to tell us that they are closed, and had been closed "for a while" (but the door was wide open? Their website, I see now, indicates a 1am closing time?). We remarked that "last call" means, well, last call. He repeated that they were closed and handed out cards for us to call them next time "before we drove over there."

True, guess we should have checked their website due to their odd closing time. But guys:
1. If you are truly closed, perhaps place a sign?
2.Give your parking attendant a slip with your hours/tell him not to me so smart-alecky with your clients.
3. "Last call" means one more round, not "we're closed"

“Inside the park?!”

Great lounge feeling while you eat a typical Puertorrican dish or any other international delight. Big sofas, high ceiling fans, old but modern. Loved the big wooden curved table. They have a DJ. Music is not loud.
