“Loved it.”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Great little bar/restaurant with huge beer selection and better pizza than you can find in most of US because it makes its own dough (unlike the tasteless factory-produced ersatz dough now used in most US pizzas). We saw a few tourists look in but turn away apparently because Pirilo's looks like an exclusive local haunt but it is in fact a very welcoming and cozy place with an impressive italian menu and quick, friendly service. We loved it so much that we ate there three out of the four nights that we were in Old San Juan. BTW the manager looks a lot like a handsome version of Woody Allen.

“A Slice of Air Conditioned, Gourmet Pizza Heaven!”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Pirilo Pizza Rustica is a great lil' spot to eat if you happen to be wandering the sweltering streets of Old San Juan with an appetite. This place gets 4 stars for their air conditioning alone! They keep this restaurant like an ice box! Quite the welcomed relief for the sweaty/hungry tourist.

As far as the pizza is concerned (I didn't order any other food), I ordered the 4 cebollas pizza and I added pepperoni and goat cheese. Their individual pizza is a nice size and can totally fill you up! Homemade pizza dough, fresh ingredients, fire roasted, cooked to perfection, and terrific presentation. All of the flavors were amazing, however; I would warn those who order the goat cheese that it can easily overpower the rest of the pizza due to the amount they give you.

Ok, why not 5 stars then? The only thing standing in the way of this place getting 5 stars are their prices. This may or may not be fair because EVERYTHING in Old San Juan is overpriced. I think my individual pizza was $16. Also, this place is pretty darn small inside. You want to make sure and go here for an early or late lunch. If you wait until dinner time you will not find a seat and you will be eating your pizza standing up. Last bit of advice...order a pisco sour to quench your thirst! Cheers!

“Charming place, delicious food!”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Per Tripadvisor reviews, we decided to check this place out. The name had me at "pizza" but they offer WAY more than that! The food was amazing! My husband and I were glad we decided to venture to OSJ to try this place. The atmosphere was cozy with eclectic charm. Service was great, food fantastic, and there was a variety of drink selections. The customers were a good mix of locals and vacationers. We will definitely come back on our next trip to PR!

“Amazing food!!!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

Our tour guide at the Bioluminescent Bay recommended Pirilio highly. So upon our return to San Juan, we sought it out. Didn't try any of the many beers, but I did have the Ginger-sesame sangria. It was very different and good. We also had the salata genovese and the pizza rufalo. (?) It was the one with buffalo mozzarella, arrugula, goat cheese and tomatoes. Absolutely outstanding. We love Mellow Mushroom pizza back home, and it was better than that. Reasonably priced for the quality of food. The service was slow, but it was an extremely busy Saturday night. Every chair in the place was taken. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return.
