Attentive and very friendly service. Excellent iced coffees and alcoholic beverages. The quality of the cortaditos and cappuccinos was very good. Interesting seating and bar and outdoor space set against the bustle of Old San Juan. Will return.

Overpriced and below average food. Too many other great food options in the area. This is one restaurant you should skip.

Dear Professor,

While we appreciate your review, we would like to have some more information about your experience in order to improve and benefit from your constructive criticism.

When did you go, what did you order, and what specifically is it that you disliked?

Which specific item (s) did you consider "overpriced" and " below average"?

We are precisely reviewing our menu for the next season.

Any sugestions?

Regards,

Tamara Sosa Pascual

Caficultura quickly became our regular breakfast spot during our trip to San Juan. The coffee, orange juice and everything we tried on the menu were excellent. The service is friendly and everything arrived at a good clip, even when the restaurant was busy. Highly recommended!

We were in Old San Juan for 4 days in February, and tried different places for breakfast each day, and I have to say, Caficultura was my favorite! We went to Cafeteria Mallorca, Quatro Sombras, and Cafe Poetico. I'm not saying that the other places were bad (those would be other reviews) but I loved the atmosphere, the high ceilings and the FOOD of Caficultura.
Of course the coffee was superb (extra points for making cute designs with the creme), but it was the mallorca ham+cheese sandwich that made me miss it even a week after we're back. The mallorca was nice and warm, with just the right amount of sweetness, in the dough itself and with the powdered sugar, the ham was a real deli cut ham, with the melted cheese...it was heavenly!

I do agree with other reviews, if you're in a hurry to go somewhere, this is not for you. I think our food took 20 mins to come. It looked like they were understaffed, but friendly (as are everyone in PR that we've met), I see all of them really busy running around with orders all the time, just not enough to cover everybody in a timely manner.

I would still recommend this to anyone who's in the OSJ area, it's nice to just take your time and relax in the morning, taking in the surroundings....it's a vacation afterall! :)

On a nice square with lots of activity and people watching with a nice outdoor patio. We were looking for an afternoon coffee and some pastries. The server standing at the door said they did have desserts so we sat inside to cool off. Once seated we asked for a list of desserts or pastries and were told that there was just a cookie. To tired to go looking for another place, we stayed, ordered cappuccions ($3.50 each) and the cookie ($2.00). The server also brought us a bottle of water.

Coffee was great but the small cookie with a dab of jelly in the center was straight out of a grocery store package. We can't give reviews on food but what we saw delivered looked good.

Overall a good coffee and people watching.

Thank you for your comments. We regret that at the time you visited us we only had cookies left to accompany the coffee.

This is not the usual experience of our guests. Our cookies and desserts are house or locally made. Our signature recipes include coconut and carrot cakes, guava muffins, cinamon pound cake and the mini side cookies for the coffee.

Since they are baked daily, on occassion, the day's supply is consumed prior to closing. We are sorry about you not being informed of this at the door and apologize. We have taken the proper measures.

Thanks again for you comments!
