Pez Dorado (Golden Fish) is one of our favorite seafood restaurants in San Juan. My wife and I go there about once per month and the food is consistently excellent. Cuisine is mostly Spanish with a Caribbean touch. Our favorite appetizers are the mushrooms with shrimp in garlic sauce (setas con camarones al ajillo) and the fried calamari. Most seafood platters are great choices for a main course. Most are $20 to $25. We particularly like the sea bass (lubina), turbot (rodaballo) and seafood paella. If you like desserts, the Tres Leches (three milk cake) is worth a try.
I would definitively recommend Pez Dorado to anyone looking for great seafood in San Juan with a Spanish taste. Note that the restaurant is on a mall, not near sightseeing attractions. Reservations are recommended, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings when it tends to be full.
