This tour was one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences during our trip to San Juan! Our guide, Hiram, kept a nonstop conversation during the 3 hours, expertly weaving info about the history, architectural details, culture, and regional dishes of San Juan. He also shared his opinions about current social and political affairs as a native Puerto Rican.

The restaurants reflected both old and new and the dishes were great examples of the local cuisine (mofongo, fried chicken with guava dipping sauce that was truly delish, piña coladas, and one of the best mojitos I've ever had!) We found in general that the food in Puerto Rico was a little more on the fried side than we usually eat (no leafy green veggies in sight ) but even the reasons for this were deftly explained by Hiram.

We had lunch on our own and tooled around in Old San Juan before the tour, and I wished we had timed it better to go afterwards instead! Several of the restaurants we visited, I would have happily returned to with more time. Shopping, too. They gave us a handy coupon book at the end.

Over all, a very enjoyable and well-executed tour!

We recently completed a 7-day cruise of the Southern Caribbean. Prior to cruise departure we stayed 2 extra days in San Juan. The high-light of our stay was the Flavors Tour. There were 8 adults in our group and everyone absolutely loved this tour. Not only did we get to experience some great "local" cuisine and a fabulous mojito and pina colada, our guide treated us to some very interesting facts/history of San Juan. His knowledge made the walking part especially enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour. In fact, if we ever return to San Juan (and we believe we will) we would definitely take this tour again. We learned that many restaurants participate with this tour and are rotated between the tours. Groups are limited to 10-12 people so book early to get a spot.

My husband and I took a dinner tour with Hiram. He was an excellent tour guide; very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We had an opportunity to visit 4 great restaurants and sample some delicious local specialties. We also got great tips on other places to visit- in old san juan and san juan. I highly recommend this tour and would do it early in your trip.

Everything about this tour exceeded our expectations. Not only did we eat wonderful food in some lovely authentic restaurants but Hiram gave us a great walking tour of the Old Town that included lessons in history, culture, current affairs, architecture, natural history, and the anthropology of the island's food. The route was lovely, including an evening stroll on the Paseo de la Princesa up to the city gates. This was by far the highlight of our stay here.

We had a wonderful tour guide! Mikol was very knowledgeable as history is her passion. We enjoyed the history lesson between the stops for delicious food. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a great overview of Old San Juan with munchies in between. Come hungry!
