I stayed at this inn over the Christmas holiday and loved the place. The staff were helpful and professional. They gave us towels for the beach and told us how to get around the city (can't beat the 25 cent bus ride to Old San Juan - the bus stop was a 3 minute walk away). The hotel bar's food was simple, but did the job after coming in from a day in the sun. The bar served great drinks at reasonable prices. I felt at home at the hotel.

My husband and I were at the Wind Chimes from Nov. 14 - 27, 2004. I booked on-line and there was no choice in rooms. Upon arrival I asked for an upgrade and we were accomodated the next day. We stayed at the additional house which looked to be still in progress 1/2 block down the road > closer to the beach. Rooms were somewhat small but very clean and nicely furnished. The bathromm was also in good condition. Both rooms were kept in imacioulous conditions by the cleaning staff during our stay. The gated doors of that house were kept closed (guests had a key) and we felt safe and comfy there. We checked out the breakfast bar twice. The first time was great. A German lady most efficient and very friendly served us a sumptious breakfast. On our last morning, our second breakfast, it was a little less uplifting > mix-up in the order, missing food item, food came at different times for my husband and myselve etc. We were served by 2 people of which one said he didn't do the breakfast bar for a while and the second one spoke Spanish only and was just given instructions. So Ok Breakast bar was soso. Parking is a problem. Not many spaces and you have to make reservation otherwise you find yourselve circleling the blocks. The pool was a dissapointment. It looked nice in the pictures but turned out to be just a little more than a bath tup. The staff at the reception/concierge desk was fantastic. Always extremely helpfull and really friendly and sincere. Thumbs way up for these ladies. THANK YOU!!! To the neighorhood. At first it looked a little run down which it was. But for the people in the stores and restaurants they were warm and friendly to us tourists and made us feel ok and safe. No problem there. Buses are readily accessable and a bargain for 25 cents just one block off the hotel. No need for taxis. The beach looked nice and clean and hardly anybody enjoying it at the time we were there. For somebody who doesn't like the hype of the big hotel chains this hotel is perfect. It's clean, quite, private and everything is easily accessable. Also, Puerto Ricans are special people. Respect and kindness is in full swing. That's what we have experienced at our stay at this lovely island. My husbad and I are 48 and 54 years young of mixed race and culture and like to do things our way especially on our vacation. We hate to be put on a schedule or box, or told when to do and what to wear or being insulted or disrespected by other guests or anybody or anything for that matter. PEACE

We recently spent 3 nites at the Wind Chimes. Staff very helpful, rooms nice (but small) and a little bit of a walk to restaurants in the Condado area. The area the hotel is in (at the edge of the Condado) seemed a little desolate at night. The way the hotel is set up makes it very conducive to interacting with other guests at the bar & pool. Make sure you ask to be in the main building, there is an annex building as well. Overall it was a positive experience and a good value for the money.

My wife and I stayed at Wind Chimes for three nights prior to a cruise departure and found the accommodations to be very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable. It's a uniquely attractive inn and while the pool was far from large it made for a great cool evening dip. The staff was very helpful. It arranged a rain forest tour for us and offered a great tip for breakfast at Kasalta, a local restaurant a few blocks from the inn. As advertised, the inn is just a short block from the beach. Generally, this place earns high marks. Figure 30-40 minute bus ride to Old San Juan. But who's complaining at a 25-cent fare.

Dear friends,
I stayed on August 2004 at the Wind Chimes Inn for 4 days and I did not like it at all.
First, the indications given to get from the airport were so poor that it took us a long time to reach it.
Then, nobody opened us the door for about 15 minutes. The girl at the front desk was not there for unknown reasons.
We were given a tiny room with an even smaller bathroom where only one at the time may enter. However, the room was always neat and clean. We had views to a patio.
The parking area was not easy since you had to approach your car to a wall in order to let the other 5 cars enter their way to their place.
Not to mention the horrible and dirty swimming pool available.
Besides, when we wanted to change the hotel for our second stay at San Juan, we were charged one full night!!!!! It was unfare!!!!!!
I do not recommend you this hotel!!!!! There are million better in Condado Area!!
I ´d rather recommend our second hotel "The San Juan Comfort Inn"--nice rooms, nice pool, breakfast included in regular price, perfect location.
