We decided to stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan as Celebrity offered to pay for our hotel as they shortened our cruise by 1 day. They offered us $300.00 towards hotel accommodation. We had stayed at Da House for $100.00 per night pre cruise and thought lets take advantage of this credit offered by Celebrity and stay at a higher class hotel. Wrong. The rooms were dark and carpets were on the dirty side. didnt' smell too good either. our view for 300.00 per night was a 6 level parking garage. could not keep our window open as people across the way could see in clearly. no shops, restaurant was pricy and nothing special. the swimming pool area was very small and there were about 10 chairs to use and they were all full and the only type of bar service was a vending machine in another room off the pool area. i have to say the curbside service was very good and they did allow us to check in far earlier than the designated 300pm. but other than that, i didn't find the amenities offered at this hotel any better that that of a boutique hotel while the prices was very different. needless to say, i was quite disappointed as i have been to many other Sheratons and this one was not comparable.

We just returned from the Sheraton. We were there last weekend. We had two rooms with king beds. We paid $90 each for them on priceline.

The hotel is an older building, but it is clean and the decor is pleasant. The fire protection system is up to date and includes sprinklers, smoke detectors and fire rated doors, all in excellent condition (Geek alert! Ok, I admit I'm a fire inspector by trade, I look for that stuff)

Our rooms were on the small side, but adequate, certainly bigger then our cruise ship stateroom The in room coffee was excellent, but we had no condiments the first night. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and good water pressure (3rd floor), a nice shower massage and Bliss toiletries.

There are only two small elevator cars serving the hotel, and at 3 pm and 10 am, it is a horrible situation. But these are the things that make a vacation an adventure! lol. Other times the elevators are slow, but hey, you are on island time anyway.

The pool and jacuzzi area are small, but the views are wonderful, the jacuzzi hot with strong jets and occasional bar service. Although towels are provided earlier in the day, they do not seem to be replenished when the supply is exhausted. It pays to bring your own towel.

The exercise room has plenty of equipment and 2 televisions. Again, towels are provided, but seldom replenished.

DH found the business center and the policies to be quite frustrating. He ended up spending $10 to print out our boarding passes. (But there is an internet cafe down the street)

The porters, particularly Umberto, were extremely helpful. They were polite, prompt and professional as well as personable.

The concierge, not the most chipper gal around, was very knowledgeable about the local area. Although she couldn't make suggestions, she was spot on with all the detail in the world when we asked the right questions. She offered up perfect, detailed directions-including addresses- as well as a very useful map to everywhere we wanted to go.

The hotel is in the most amazing location. We liked being in walking distance to many different choices for dining. We found wonderful food behind the hotel at Luis's Sports Grill and Genesis Cafe. Luis' had the most wonderful fish tacos and the Perfect Margarita! Genesis Cafe had fantastic chicken dishes from about $7. La Bombenera is a must for a breakfast of mallorcas. While there, we took the ferry to the Bacardi Factory, rode the trolley around town (stops at the hotel and its FREE!), toured the forts (amazing!) and WALKED.

In summary, keeping in mind the age of the building, if you don't expect it to meet the same standard as a modern structure you will be pleasantly surprised that the "old girl" does so well. The hotel is clean and pleasant but does not pay much attention to detail. Service overall is non-personal but professional and ranges from adequate to excellent in our experience. The amenities are good and the location phenomenal.

We can't wait to go back and we will absolutely stay here again...and again specifically for the location -especially for $90 per night!

This hotel is typical of what you would expect from a Sheraton. It is located in Old San Juan and near the cruise ports making it ideal for an overnight stay before a cruise or a first-timer to San Juan.

I did not plan to stay in my room or on-site for most of my trip. The restaurant was okay, with fantastic Pina Colada's! The Chicago Burger Company did not interest me since I live in Chicago and have been to the Chicago location. I did not visit the casino.

The concierge was most helpful with scheduling my excursions to the bio-bay, el Yunque and the beach. I was close to the forts of Old San Juan (walking distance or use the free shuttles), shopping at the outlets, and great restaurants - try Raices for delicious Puerto Rican food!

I only have two complaints...(1) the bell staff did not return to my room as promised to assist with a problem (although I probably should not have tipped him first). (2) The cleaning staff, although thorough with the cleaning, were quite loud in the hallways. One morning, the cleaning staff had half the hallway full of stuff (I guess they were organizing their carts). No problem, but just not outside guest room doors so you wake the guests who are sleeping.

I have never had such a horrible time! We booked through Travelocity so everything was pre-paid, but upon check-in on a Sun pm, they charged our travel card over $1200 and didn't bother to inform us of this little incidental - we found out on the following Fri pm when after dinner, our card was declined. Instead of apologizing or offering something to make up for the inconvenience, they seemed aggravated that we'd discovered the error! I had to do all the trouble-shooting to resolve the issue - spent a few hours doing this - and they still had to resend the fax to the card co. to get our funds released. The room service is slow and over-priced. The rooms are sub-par - bare basics and not exceptionally clean. The bedside table was not dusted once during the entire week. Our room was on the back of the property so there was constant traffic noise and our view was a parking garage. We were never greeted leaving or returning. The man at the tour information desk was utterly useless. The restaurants were pathetic with the same un-service a plenty. I would never, never stay at this hotel again. Upon check out, we were charged taxes that again were included with our booking. When I brought this up to the attendant he told me Travelocity was lying about it and he wouldn't take them off the bill. I hope to have this matter resolved eventually, but sadly that is beside the point and after the fact.

We stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan hotel before our cruise in September. We arrived late due to plane delays but were warmly welcomed by staff to a very beautiful and clean hotel. There was a surprise porterage fee that the clerk explained is the local law but it was only about $12. We could easily have stayed up to party with musicians in the downstairs casino but we chose to snuggle up in our very comfortable bed. The room was huge but cozy with tasteful decor. It had an amazing view of some ruins and our cruise ship. It was only about a five minute easy walk to the dock so skip the taxi. We only wished the cruise had been as nice as this hotel. Also for those in the know..there is a Senor Frogs just behind the hotel which is fun for eating, shopping and a general good time.
