I did not expect this as I was heading to the old el Morrow fort; but I am so glad I went in for a look, wonderful not creepy at all very calming with the sound of the waves. Quite lovely! If you have made it althe way up definatly Go see it!

“A Tomb with a view”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

San Juan Cemetery is located next to El Morro Fort over looking the Atlantic Ocean. You can walk between the two areas. The cemetery is is accessed by going through a tunnel like entrance. It is very peaceful and is known for its elaborate tombstones, shrines. The circular neoclassical chapel dedicated to Mary Magdalen. It appears as though many locals continue visiting and placing flowers and spending time to honors those buried there. A must see.

“A cemetery to remember!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

This cemetery is right next to El Morro and well worth the walk across the lawn to view. Some of the most beautiful pictures we took.

“An old cemetery”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

There's not a lot to say about it other than It is a very old cemetery where the ocean is the backdrop. Some of the headstones are huge. If you're going to be in Old San Juan, check it out. It's next to El Morro.

“Breathtaking...and FREE fun!!!”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

This is one of the best FREE places to go! The cemetary was closed, but luckily my camera was able to get some close up shots of the stunning headstones. The weather was beautiful...couldn't have asked for a better day. It was fun to see all the families flying kites and walking around. I can't wait to go visit San Juan again.

The trolley/busses are a bit time consuming, so prepare for traffic if you need to get back to your hotel in a timely fashion. Part of our group got stuck in traffic due to a festival going on.

It's a beautiful city and lots to see and do. Everyone is very friendly. Make sure you bring you good walking shoes...you will do quite a bit of that!
