Owner description: A seaside cemetery where a number of notable Puerto Ricans rest.
Reviewed January 3, 2013

This amazing cemetary is positioned right on the ocean. the view is amazing and the history is rich. Our guide explained that those who are priveledged to be buried here are people who have contributed in a major way to the progress and success that Puerto Rico has enjoyed. It sits on land at the fort and is wll maintained. Take the time to stop and visit this place.

Not the coolest cemetery or one with the best stories but decently maintained and nicely located near the fort. If you venture all of the way into it their is a nice pavilion where you can rest in the shade.

If this is the cemetery at El Morro (not sure it is), then you have to go down the tunnel to see it. It's also fun to look over the walls from above down into it. All the prominent people in SJ are buried here and the memorials are great.

From the open fields surrounding El Morro, a short steep walk along from the main road leads to the cemetry gates. Then browse the family crypts which, from reading the plaques, are used regularly. Some our in a very poor state of repair - perhaps the familys are no longer. All with an ocean view.
Toilets were very clean & very welcomed.

Gorgeous seaside cemetery. The statues and architectural tributes to the dearly departed are amazing. Definitely worth a visit.
