Agree with other negative reviews regarding cleanliness/appearance of rooms. The property itself is beautiful and we did enjoy our 1 day stay prior to departing on a cruise. The pool area and beach are quite nice, food at the on-site Italian restaurant was pretty good - our only option for dinner as Morton's and other close restaurants/bars were closed due to 3 Kings Holiday. Sandwiches from the snack/pool bar at the pool were also pretty good but pricey as would be expected at a resort. The 15-20 minute walk along the oceanside to Old San Juan was nice and enjoyed tour of Castillo de San Cristóbal fort - another 15 minute walk would get you to Fort San Felipe del Morro.

Visited San Juan during the San Sebastian festivals downtown. Street crowded, great fun. Hilton of course unprepared( that island time phylosophy again) for the number of people needing transportation and allowed the cab drivers to rob its guest during this time. Cab rates into San Juan were 3x more and the management here just let it happen. Price gauging at it's best. The service standards here are below average therefore our next visit to this beautiful city will be at another hotel. One that appreciates and tends to it's guests. Needs major renovations. Very Dirty!

I travel the whole world for work. I love Puerto Rico. I love San Juan. I love Caribe Hilton. But what should take 2 minutes takes 20 minutes in PR. If someone says they'll meet you in an hour they really mean maybe sometime today. Maybe.
Unfortunately the Caribe Hilton is no different in this regard. So what would be a 5 star all the way around becomes 4 star.

We loved the open lobby and large room. All kinds of activities are available and one of the best locations. The staff was mostly very friendly and helpful. One waiter at the Pina Colada was obviously having a bad day with very slow service. The breakfast restaurant is fabulous with great food options and very friendly and helpful staff. The Lemon Grass was a notch below first rate but the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The furniture in our room was showing wear but the bed was very comfortable. The AC quit and required a new filter that looked like it had not been changed in months. Getting wifi was very confusing and not available in the rooms. Only ethernet and $8 per day at that. The hotel needs to update their policy and wifi availability in rooms. Overall it was a positive experience for us and we will probably return but the hotel needs to tighten up a bit and upgrade its wifi policy.

Room Tip: We had an ocean view room on the 8th floor of the old building. The view was stunning.

First the good. Morton's steak house is excellent. the beach and pool are great except only one hot tub was working. the lobby is a nice area and the bar is typical. The concierge team was helpful but lacked some info on a few of the tours. comfortable bed.

Now, the bad. the hallways on our room floor were dingy and dirty. Our room has been "remodeled" but looked to be only half finished. no trim on the sink just a cut out hole. shelves stapled together and workmanship shoddy. they did not clean well and i had to ask for the patio doors to be cleaned so we could see the view. we were on the 4th floor and there was a wedding on the 2nd. the noise was unbearable until 3 a.m. the desk said they sent security but to no avail. other than Mortons the resturants are bad and Starbucks is your only option. there is free wi-fi in the lobby so it is full all the time. the paid internet in the room has to go.
i will say this, Paris Hilton would not stay here. i would but only if i could get different accomodations. the food thing can be overcome by going to town but that is a nice 2 mile walk or 12.00 cab ride. hope this helps.

Room Tip: ask for upper floors and i think the tower is better.
