“Great experience, with a few challenges”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2013

Three girlfriends and I went to San Juan for my Big 5-0. We had a wonderful time, and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Lani at the front desk was particularly lovely. Unfortunately, I was expecting an important FedEx package that somehow got lost in the hotel and didn't get to me until two days after it was signed for by someone in the business center. It would have been a shame to have a couple of inefficient business center/mailroom staff ruin my experience. But Lani was quick to offer credits and other solutions, along with manager David. And our favorite server, Sonny at LaVista Cafe, was efficient, hilarious, courteous--and gave us all great goodbye hugs. Overall, it was a fabulous experience. We will return!

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view; it's worth the extra dough.

We have stayed here numerous times over the years, and nothing has changed. We are always happy staying here. We just wish that they would keep there Executive Lounge in full operation on the weekends. They have many loyal Marriott customers staying there, and it would be a good benefit for loyalty. The executive lounge has a great view from the PH floor of the beach and the old town city. The hotel lobby really hops on Saturday night as locals come to hear a live 8 piece salsa band, and dance the night away. The location on Condado Beach is great, and they are right in the center of the action. Shops are around, Starbucks is across the street, and many restaurants are in the area. Walgreens is less than a block away, open 24 hours. The rooms are nice and spacious. They do back up at the front desk as they are always full on the weekends, with cruise passengers coming and going on Friday through Monday. Saturday and Sunday, they really turn over the guests. We arrived early from a ship, they asked for our phone number, stored our luggage, and called us when our room was ready, before noon Saturday. We were at the beach enjoying our day. We have stayed before as I said, and we will stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a large corner room with balconies on 2 sides, one side facing along the ocean (not directly...

We stayed at the hotel in June and don't have many complaints. It is right on the beach and towels and chairs are provided. The location in San Juan is perfect and on the main street. You can walk on the beach or the street and not be too far from the hotel but also be immersed in the town.

The only complaints were the noise issues. The pool was filled with screaming kids, but since its a family friendly hotel this may not be avoidable. The lobby got loud in the evenings. DJs and concerts would take over but it would have been nice if they could monitor the noise level.

If you're a Marriott gold member, do note that the breakfast in the lounge is good and I'd say a bit better than at the hotels within the states.

There is a car rental right within the hotel. For fairly cheap (~$25) we got a car and drove off to Arecibo as well as some of the caves.

I'd come back here again and recommend this hotel.

Just returned from my 4 day 3 night stay the Marriott where my husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. We were greatly impressed with the hotel. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. It was extremely windy and rainy, but the hotel more than compensated for the weather. Upon our arrival (in the rain) we were greeted with complimentary run punches. Our room was immaculate and overlooked both the pool and ocean. The food at the hotel was delicious. We enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast buffets which was highlighted by an incredible waiter, Angelo. He made it a joy to start our day with the attention he gave to us. He ensured that our breakfast was perfect for us while giving us tips on how to spend the rest of our day. The hotel provided us with umbrellas which we took into Old San Juan, which is just a quick taxi ride away. We enjoyed the many shops and restaurants there as well.

Stayed for 2 nights for business. I had the do not disturb sign on my door, and although they did not clean the room, my room was entered while I was out of the hotel. This was disconcerting. The hotel is under renovation in the lobby. The room was outdated, but fine. I wouldn't stay here again.

Nice property very good / safe location. The best feature is highly attentive staff who seem to want to go out of their way to help you. Drinks and food in the hotel's restaurants are some what expensive but within what seems to be the norm in resorts. The beach is a little rough in this area but still enjoyable! On the other hand, several good restaurants with in 2-5 minute walk. Good beaches about 15 mins away near the airport area ($20 cab ride), old San Juan is 5-10 minute ($15 cab ride).

Great location, awesome staff, fun beach, but I would hesitate to come back because the pool is cold. If you are going to have a swim up bar, the pool should be warm enough that you would sit and have drinks and be comfortable. I visited the Marriott Isle Verde and the pool was perfectly heated. As a result, I spent money at their bar! The manager should have a visit the Courtyard Marriot and take notice of the many people enjoying the pool/swim up bar at that hotel. I would book there next time ONLY because of the more inviting pool situation.
also, there was a mess around the pool from the prior evening still there mid morning the next day
I would have liked to see "Life Fitness" cardio machines in the gym. The ones that are in place are ergonomically awkward.
