This is the general name for the Site. Go to specific places such as Morro, San Cristobal, etc.

There are a couple of other important places to visit such as the Pigeons Park, the cathedral, etc.

This is the real "Pirates of the Caribbean". The fort was attacked more than once. It played a critical role in protecting Spain's empire in the New World. A walk around the various levels of this large and well preserved fort is a fun way to get a better insight into the world of the 1500's-1800's. The movie in the visitor area isn't very good but is a good place to rest and get a quick overview. As you walk around the various levels take the time to read the information boards. Other than that just enjoy the winding stairways, great views, and look back in time. If you are not at all interested in historical stuff and don't like climbing stairs and can't stand the heat... this may not be your place. Otherwise plan to spend at least an hour.

The two forts in Old San Juan are so worthwhile visiting. And the free trolley that drives you around is a bonus. The trolley route has a mind of its own however, may not take you back where you want to go ... so be patient and ride along. There is so much to see and read about here and spectacular views ... including the iguana on the rooftop ... can you spy it? The $5 USD fee gets you into both forts and the guides around the venue provide good info.

Must see if you are in Old San Juan. Lot of walking but worth the History Lesson. The fort is mutli levels so bring your walking shoes. Water and soft drinks are available in gift shop. $5 fee to get into Fort. There are two other forts that your admission is good for just keep your receipt. They will tell you that anyway.

The fort is beautiful and massive territory to cover. The entry fee is only $5.00, well worth the cost. There is a lot of walking but there is a free trolley in Old San Juan that will take you there. The views of the beaches and ocean are absolutely breathtaking! Take time out of your day to spend several hours, at the least, to visit. The history here is inspiring. My imagination was running wild...I definitely put this as a must see when you go to San Juan!
