This is a must-see spot when in San Juan. The views are spectacular and the markers around the floors make it easy to understand the history of the fort, and uses of various rooms, staircases, etc.

Walked to Fort, and took in the sights and history. Very well worth the hour and half. Make sure you are ready to WALK. and WALK. We normally would not have done, but we are glad we did.

Hiking up the hill is not for those with mobility issues - but it is worth the effort if you can make it. Lots of history, incredible walled fortress - actually you get to visit two forts for the price of one! Watch the local population fly beautiful kites on the massive green, see the film that explains the history of this fort, and just be amazed at the effort that has gone into building layer upon layer of protection for this city - for over 500 years!

This was included in our Puerto Rico/Royal Caribbean tour package. We were a little disappointed as access is very hard from a tour cruise as the pnly way to get there was to walk and there was very little time given since it did involve leaving the group to just see this. Be careful when you choose tours here as access and time are important. We would have liked ot see the fort but unfortunately we could not. As you can see there is no vehicle access either so be prepared to walk!!

Nicely maintained and good to learn of the rich history related to PR.
Walking through the tunnels was a nice experience.

I reccommend that this be visited by all visitors who come to Puerto Rico. Also go to the Rain Forest and the Camuy Caves if possible.

First of all, make sure you bring comfortable shoes because the walk from the street to the main entrance is pretty long unless you catch a ride. Also, the stairs inside the Fort are steep and sometime slippery. The map that is given inside is very helpful because there many things to see. The view of the ocean is spectacular. The design of the Fort was well planned and you can only imagine how much work it took to build it. This historic site is incredible.

We wanted a personalized tour and reached out to Jay; extremely knowledgeable on the history of the island, and each of the historical sites within and adjacent to Old San Juan. #steelersnation represented

This was a great place to visit. All the open views was so pretty. It looks just how you see it here. My husband and I loved visiting this attraction. I was impressed. You can see 360 views from here. I loved it.
