“Second oldest Cathedral in the Americas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

Be sure to stop by San Juan Cathedral to check out the relic of St. Pius (whose exposed skull is visible), the tomb of Ponce De Leon, and the beautiful architecture of the building itself. The ceilings are very ornate and there is a wonderful stained glass window. Photos are allowed inside as long as you are not bothering anyone, or if it is during Mass. Dress code is not as strict as when you visit churches in Europe; you are allowed to wear shorts and have bare shoulders. The priest was there answering questions when we were there, although we did not get a chance to speak to him. I have visited many churches, in many different styles, throughout Europe and the U.S., and this one is surely worth the time!

We walked to this lovely old Cathedral from our hotel, and truely enjoyed viewing the inside of it. Beautiful old world detail and in very good condition.

“Very nice Catedral with mini Gift Shop”

We are Catholics, so we always visit local churches and catedrals, this one is very nice and historic. Has a small gift shop as well.

“Mass in Spanish”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

My family has visited Old SanJuan several times and have managed to hear part of the service from the outside. Massive old church-it always amazes me that such construction can occur without our modern machinery.

“A glance back to old Religious History and Architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

It just so happened we were in Old San Juan on a Taste of San Juan Tour and got to visit the cathedral. We happened to be outside on Ash Wednesday just as everyone was coming out of Mass for that day. Lots of people and an interesting site to see.
