We spent every day of our vacation enjoying this special little island a short (10-13 min) ferry trip away from the El Conquistador marina. We arrived early to the marina to catch the first ferry out each day to ensure a shady spot on the beach. Getting in line early was a must on a school break week. It got crowded after 10am.
There are plenty of water sports to enjoy (kayaks, wave runners, large floats, paddle boards, a small hobie cat, snorkeling supplies, etc). There are also lawn games, horseback riding along the island trails, outside bars and an outdoor grill/restaurant with take-out or eat-in. Towels are available on the island, and all of the equipment was out and ready to go when we arrived in the morning. There is some decent snorkeling right off the beach, and a little island that you may boat or swim to from Palomino. On the first day, we had that little island and its waters all to ourselves in the morning. Heaven! The water is warm and beautiful. Our young teens loved it. Great fun for all!
There is a clean rest room and an outdoor shower, but no lockers. There are also a few shops on the island as well.
