Reviewed March 20, 2013

La rogativa is place on an open space that has one of the most important Photographic spot. You can watch the Bahía of San Juan, has the Santa Catalina Palace, the great Muralla of San Juan. A beautiful view of San Juan and Isla de Cabras... At the sunset is a priceless picture...

A statue by Lindsay Daen gifted to San Juan by the Jewish community which has been taken to the hearts of the Puertorican people as a classic image of Old San Juan because of its historical importance.

“Beautiful Sculpture”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Historic and stoic, this sculpture is a centerpiece in VSJ. It tells a great history, and was created by a beloved local man.

“History Marches Forward”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

The legend goes that in April, 1797, the city was under attack by the British and there were no reserves as the soldiers were fighting elsewhere. The women of the city banned together and formed a 'rogativa' - a procession. With the priest, they marched through the city, ringing bells and carrying torches praying for their deliverence. The Brits saw the procession and thought reinforcements had arrived - and they left. These 4 statues (the tallest is 12') are grouped together and are a celebration of these women. The statues are esthetically beautiful and their location above the bay, above the last gate is appropriate. Take the time to climb one more little hill and see this wonderful piece of art - it's only a few steps up the hill from the gate on the right side if you are headed out of the city.
