“Closed to the public”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

The palace itself is closed to the public but the surrounding streets are an excellent point to absorb the atmosphere of Old San Juan

“La Fortaleza - Palacio de Santa Catalina”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

We stopped here while staying in San Juan and took the tour. This building was built in 1540 and served as a fort and is now the Governor’s mansion. The tour is of the first floor only, but this is the art that was the fort. The tour is about 20 minutes and only costs $3 which isn’t bad. It isn’t a must see, but if you have the time it is worth the trp. Also make sue you book one of the English tours.

“Short fun tour”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

This tour meets all the requirements that my sister's has for any tour - it must not be over 20 minutes, be interesting, and somewhere there needs to be a garden. Our tour guide was a cute, charming girl who had a particular dislike of a mango tree that successfully dropped mangos on her head. The tour is only of the first floor and shows you the original fort built for San Juan. It is an interesting contrast to those of El Morro and Cristobal. There are times for an English lead tour versus Spanish. So make sure you schedule the right one.

“Seeing the sites”

This was a stop on our Segway tour and it is very nice. I recommend taking that Segway tour with a guide to tell all the history of this site.
