“Lovely Quaint Hotel”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

A group of us stayed at the hotel for a destination wedding during the second week of July 2013. The staff could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. Thank you Helen and Luis for literally being at our beckon call! The hotel is very clean and the rooms nice and cool! The complimentary breakfast and seating area were excellent and a great place to watch passers by. Having the beach directly across from the hotel made the vacation spectacular. What a blast had by all. We will be back and highly recommend the Tres Palmas Inn.

Room Tip: some rooms have more traffic outside the doors but even with a full hotel we still felt it to be pri...

We stayed here with family and friends for a destination wedding and we could not have asked for better accommodations! The service was excellent, I'd give 10 stars if I could. Everyone was so friendly and courteous. The staff was just INCREDIBLE! The Inn itself is beautiful with amazing views and just steps from the ocean. The beach is pretty private and the hotel also provides chairs, towels, and other items to use. There is a pool on site which is very lovely, with plenty of seating. The rooms were perfect value and beds were super comfy. We had such a great time at Tres Palmas, we are already planning a second trip there for next year.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were exceptional! And each offers something different

I stayed here along with some fellow girl scouters and we had an awesome time. We stayed for 3 nights but wished we could have stayed longer! When we first arrived i was worried about the area but only because it was nothing i was used to. After taking many walks to the beach and to close by restaurants i realized the area isn't bad at all. The hotel staff was super nice and always willing to bring fresh towels! We stayed in the two joining rooms right next to the pool. The air-conditioning is self-control which was very nice after spending all day touring Old San Juan or swimming at the beach. The breakfast was always well stocked with breakfast food and fresh fruit. The hotel offers beach chairs and body boards to use out at the beach! The location of this hotel is perfect, there are many restaurants within walking distance with delicious food. I recommend mango's or Che's, both places had delicious food! Mango's had american food but with a twist. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone & hope to stay here again!

My wife and I stayed here on 6/14/13 on our way to Dominica. We arrived at night and I was a little concerned about the area at first, however like most, there was nothing to worry about when staying here. You are right across the street from the beach, with few other people on it, and we walked down about a mile and saw lots of friendly locals out on a Friday night with no worrys at all. Had a great free breakfast the next day! View of the beach from the 2nd floor balcony is beautiful and they have a hot tub there as well. I would definitely stay here again. Since we arrived at night we didn't have much interaction with the staff, but the front desk clerk was very helpful when we spoke with her in the morning.

Room Tip: Next time I would pick the oceanfront room on the 2nd floor (next to the hot tub!)

My teenage son and I stayed here for a week and it exceeded our expectations. Originally put in room 14, a nice room with 2 double beds and a nice sitting area right outside. We could hear the ocean surf every night along with the chirping coqui frogs (on a humorous note; another guest asked the staff to turn off the recordings at night so she could sleep, not realizing it was real). For whatever reason, another guest wanted our room and we were moved to the roof top ocean suite at no extra charge. Phenomenal room with a balcony overlooking the ocean and the hot tub right out the door. As others have noted, the hot tub has a mind of its own and isn't really hot, though staff has indicated the owners plan to completely replace it during the slow season. Front desk staff are awesome; particularily Helen and Luis. They spoke near perfect English and guided us to many excellent restaurants, suggested places to go and bent over backwards to try to get us on the Bio-Bay tour with Island Excursions, who were both rude and uncooperative to them and refused to return my phone calls. Nice little breakfast each morning with coffee, juices, bagels, croissants, and fruit. My only complaint here was the fruit was apples and bananas. Would make more sense to serve local grown fruit, like pineapples, local bananas and mango's. Bought a pineapple at the local Mercado; it was to die for.

A couple of reviews stated Tres Palmas was in a bad area with bars on the property. What the reviewer fails to mention is almost all of Puerto Rico is gated. It cuts down on crime and gives visitors a sense of security. There are many misconceptions about Puerto Rico in general. They have 2 types of areas; upper class, touristy stuff like the Condado strip (which you couldn't pay me to stay on) and somewhat impoverished areas. Being from the metro Detroit area, I was leary of the second area until I realized the people are friendly, helpful and not to be feared. The couple that lives next door even invited us over for a beer. The gates are also to keep people from parking wherever they feel like. Drivers, on the other hand, are insane here. Be forewarned, you need to be aggressive and not expect the courtesy of stateside drivers. Even native New Yorkers thought driving was challenging.

All in all, a perfect place to stay. A stones' throw from a beach you can call your own, free use of comfy Tommy Bahama beach chairs and an excellent staff that makes you feel more like you're staying at a friend's house than a hotel. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: street noise can be a bit much on the weekends but concentrate on the coqui's and the surf. Tru...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in mid June. Absolutely wonderful owner and staff. We stayed in Room 3. Small but clean and comfortable room. If you don't like crazy busy hotels, this is your kind of place. They offer free use of beach chairs, umbrellas, and bikes. Nice simple breakfast. Beach is directly across the street. Parking directly outside of the hotel. Loved the two hammocks right in front. Quiet, clean, simple elegance. Stayed in another large resort hotel for a day and wished we were back at Palmas. Owner is making plans to make it even better. Enjoy!
