“Beautiful place and cozy”

We stayed at this inn pre and post our cruise. The staff were really nice and helpful giving us info on how to get around and where to have dinner. The rooms were very cute, comfortable and clean. We had room 15 the second time around and it was big and in the front of the inn. Breakfast was plentiful and had a good selection. This is not the Ritz butwe both loved it. The ocean is across the street but you have a nice large area of beach to the left of the inn which is a 5 minute walk. Took the bus to Old San juan for exact change .75 cents spent the day and then back with the bus. taxi would have costed 20.00 dollars each way.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Tres Palmas for 4 days in March. Tres Palmas is nicely situated, close to the airport and smack dab in the middle of Condado and Isla Verde, and relatively close to a strip of restaurants and stores only blocks away. There is a bus not too far away that takes you to Old San Juan and parts east for the more adventurous. While we loved the grounds, especially the rooftop hot tub and grill, the room we stayed in (room 9) was small and had very little light. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is served outside on the shared patio giving you an opportunity to meet other travelers and look out onto the gorgeous beach across the street. Breakfast was very basic however, nothing hot, just cereal, bread/bagels, some fruit, (cold) margarine, boiled eggs iced tea and OJ. Overall though it's a nice place to stay well worth the money.

I can't say enough positive things about Tres Palmas! From the staff, to the amenities, to the location... it's all five stars!

First, the amenities were excellent! They provide free beach towels to use while you're visiting. Also, they offer beach chairs, sand castle kits, boogie boards and more. They also offer a shower by the pool to rinse sand off of you, and have many patio chairs and tables by the pool. This was great to have while in the area. Sometimes the sun was just too warm, or the salt water too salty. It was great to have the shaded area at the hotel and a nice cool pool to relax in. They also have two big hot tubs on the highest deck, so eat your hearts out at the city view at night! It was so incredible.

In the rooms, you also have a locked safe (you choose the code or swipe with your credit card), a separate bathroom, a kitchenette including everything but the oven (but you can use the community kitchen for the oven), and a large flat screen TV so you don't miss any Brewers games :) They also have AC.

At Tres Palmas, you're in a nice, quiet, well-lit area of San Juan. Many public buses pass by the hotel on a regular basis, making it easy to get around. Once you get to Old San Juan you can use the free trolley service. Also, there is plenty of street parking if you plan to get a rental. Most importantly, we were literally across the road from the beach! The best part about this beach was that it was never crowded, unlike the main beaches in San Juan by the large, chain hotels. We were within a few blocks of a supermarket, easy for taxis to reach us, and close to many diverse dining options. I don't recommend walking in some areas of San Juan late at night unless you're in groups, but we always felt safe near Tres Palmas!

Additionally, their breakfast spread was great! There is something for everyone: juice, bagels, english muffins, toast, seasoned sausage (hot dogs), jams, pastries, cold cereal, cheese, salami/ham and more!

The taxi ride to and from Tres Palmas should be a flat rate of $20! Make sure the drivers stick to this, because they're notorious for trying to rip you off.

Chi Chi was most frequently at the front desk when we needed help, and he was full of helpful information for all of the guests! He had recommendations for us nearby (light lunch, dinner, supermarkets, etc) and also suggested things to do when we rented a car to travel to Old San Juan. He was very thoughtful in his recommendations and provided honest suggestions, which we really appreciated. The lady that stayed overnight was also very accommodating. We wanted to go paddle boarding and she called multiple places to discuss options, prices and times with them in Spanish for us. This was very helpful, as none of us speak Spanish very well. If your flight doesn't leave until late, they allow you to keep your bags in a safe, locked room while you continue to explore the area or stay at the beach for the day. It was great!

I will only choose Tres Palmas when I return to San Juan... beyond excellent!

Room Tip: Ask for the room overlooking the ocean at the top of the hotel! We wished we would have!

My husband and I splurged for 2 nights in the Ocean View Suite prior to a cruise. Edwin and the staff were very helpful, especially with recommending places to eat nearby. We took their recommendation for seafood and went to Atlantica (very good). We walked there (10 minutes?), but took a taxi home as it was getting dark and the area is a little intimidating. Word of advise, check the price before getting into taxis in Puerto Rico.

Breakfast was satisfactory for us with sliced meat, cheese, bread, bagels, pound cake, juice, coffee, cereal and fresh fruit. (I did bring my own tea bags.) The setting was lovely, covered, but open air and cheerful.

Maybe this Inn isn't for the ultra picky, but we had a wonderful 2 nights! The highlight was the balcony overlooking the beautiful sandy beach and gorgeous ocean. We enjoyed the room and beach so much that we didn't even go in to Old San Juan as we'd planned (we had one night in Old San Juan after the cruise). We had some lovely long beach walks and enjoyed reading, listening to the waves and watching the ocean action through the 3 palms (Tres Palmas) from our cosy balcony. My husband enjoyed the small pool. The hot tubs (for the use of the whole property) were right outside our suite, so they were very convenient for a leisurely soak overlooking the ocean. A peaceful and relaxing time!

Room Tip: Splurge like we did and go for the Ocean View Suite!!

I have no idea how anyone could rate this 5 stars. We were in room #5 for two nights. Maybe other rooms would merit a 3, a 4 would be a real reach, 5 impossible on this property, unless you think Coke is a premium beverage on a par with fine wines. I felt seriously misled by the reviews once I saw what Tres Palmas really was. It is a low-end B&B. The bed was uncomfortable (very firm) and the linens were coarse and of lower quality. The bathroom was tiny and cramped. There were hardly any places to hang things, like jackets, bathing suits, bags, or whatever. The A/C unit was noisy and we could not figure out how to make it not blow directly on the bed. The breakfast was the bare minimum for a B&B, nothing special at all. Only good part was the coffee was strong. The front desk help was cordial, but that does not compensate for the deficiencies.

My husband and I loved this boutique hotel with wonderful service and amenities. It's not fancy but we really enjoyed the proximity to the beach, the pool, the hammocks, the free bikes, the delightful staff, the rooftop hottubs with a marvelous view, etc. We'd highly recommend it and would go there again.

Room Tip: We preferred our second room near the back simply because we liked more privacy, but we also stayed...

We stayed there on our last night in PR because it was near the airport and rental car office, and of course because it was on the beach. We found it very clean and the service was good, as was the breakfast. They had beach chairs for us to borrow and take across the street to sit on the beach and relax. It was a very good choice and we enjoyed it.
