“Wonderful honeymoon stop!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

My husband and I stayed here as the first stop on our honeymoon. It was almost as if the walls and the room absorbed us - we immediately cocooned ourselves inside this hotel for the first 24 hours. The hotel was magical, quirky and artistic. Our room was filled with tons of books and a beautiful bathtub in the center of the room. We had a terrace over looking the ocean and also spent time up on the rooftop wine patio during sunset. The macaws were beautiful and greeted us everytime we came back from sight seeing. Also loved the honor bar. Such a nice touch. If you don't mind not staying in a full service hotel and are looking for something unique, the Gallery Inn is perfect.

The minute my hubby and I walked into The Gallery Inn we felt mesmerized by the beauty of the building and artwork that surrounded every corner. It's hard to call this a hotel because it is so much more than that. It's an artist retreat to a museum. My husband and I were so moved by our stay here it brought some clarity to our inner soul and brought us closer together as a couple. The owner Jan has done something special here. She and her husband make you feel like this is your home to wander about aimlessly. Be forewarned you WILL get lost in the maze of rooms that cascade from one to another beckoning you to come sit and feel the history of the place. Every corner of this romantic retreat is an invitation for romance and secret kisses. The wine deck that sits atop of the roof unfolds the city and mountains of beautiful Puerto Rico. Sip slowly and enjoy. Don't miss the little walk down to the owners beach house where you pour yourself a glass of wine and watch the surf roll in and out and painters set up their easels to capture a moment in time. Every one we met here made us feel like family. Our waiter Shannon was fantastic and our dinner was very delicious. We were serenaded by classical guitarist Felix Rodriguez who played a special song for my husband and I. It was so romantic and such a magical moment. This enchanting oasis left us wanting to come back time and time again. We had one of the most amazing experiences of our lives here. Bravo Jan for making art come to life.

Room Tip: If you don't appreciate art or 500 year old buildings, have limited mobility and no sense of bea...

We spent a very nice week at the Gallery Inn at the end January 1213. We had the largest room with our own hot tub. The Inn is not for everybody. It is filled with original art, has some narrow staircases, and does not have televisions. But it is a fascinating place, in a good location, and we met interesting people, including the artist-owners. The staff was very responsive whenever we needed something. The dinners are very good. Breakfast is ok, but you can eat it in the wonderful courtyard. Be sure to visit the beach house for a glass of wine or other cheer. It is right on the water and easy to get to. I would stay here again and I will recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: Most of the beds are full size, as I understand it. We had a kingsize, but we paid for it. Check the...

My husband and I enjoyed The Gallery Inn. We had the Garden room, no stairs to climb. The mattress and pillows were the most comfortable we've ever slept on, including our own! Had the most peaceful sleep after nights enjoying Old San Juan and drinking mojitos. Loved walking around the Inn, nothing seemed to be off limits for us to wander through. Yes, it is old. Could it use updating, couldn't everything? But that is what makes it unique and charming and that is exactly what we were looking for. Staying here was the best 3 days of our 2 week trip in Puerto Rico.

My fiance and I stayed here for 5 days in December and we will definitely be back! The Gallery Inn is part museum, part maze, and all amazing. The owner is an artist and it shows everywhere you look. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and could readily suggest any manner of day trips. Also we were fortunate to be able to attend a private piano/violin concert in the music room.

I would caution anyone who has mobility issues. Our room was at the top of a really interesting spiral staircase...and there really are stairs everywhere, which could be a challenge.

This place is pretty much a rip off. The over priced rooms (no windows on mine), made it very difficult to have a good night of sleep. AC hard to control, high humidity level, awful smell (I had to purchased scented candles).
Last but not least, the "breakfast buffet", they could do so much better than bread, butter and cereal. Watch out with the $13 omelette, it is so not worth it.
Don't go by their web site's reviews, they have picked just the good ones, I even wonder if they wrote them themselves.

My husband and I stayed there for two weeks over Christmas and the New Year and we absolutely loved it! One of the owners is an artist and the hotel feels like part artist colony and part business. We were treated not only to the lovely art all over the property, but traveling singers and a classical guitarist over dinner. We especially enjoyed discovering little surprises throughout the hotel and watching the waves from the rooftop. The staff were all very professional and friendly and we especially enjoyed getting to know the hotel's Chef who not only prepared us a special tasting menu, but also let us tag along on his daily market trip (teaching us about local foods and spices), and let us join him in his kitchen for a cooking lesson. If you prefer corporate hotels then this is not the place for you. This is the place for you if enjoy artistic and interesting people, boutique hotels, and great food. We would (and hope to) stay there again; we had a fantastic time.

Room Tip: Some rooms have steep stairs, if you have limited mobility ask for one on the garden level.
