OK so it's not much to see but the history around the gate is impressive and the view is one of the absolute best in Old San Juan!

“It's a Gate”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

Was told not to miss San Juan gate prior to our trip. We went and found it and were both struck by a feeling of disappointment, it's not as impressive as it was sold. The city walls are impressive to be sure, but the gate is basically, well, a gate.

“Historically important”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

This site is obviously an important place in San Juan`s history, but is not particularly impressive or interesting. However, the views across the bay are great.

“It's a gate”

History is great, but it is just a gate--there is a walking tour once you are through the gate that takes you up a hill and can get some nice pics above the water. We were there at sunset and got some good shots.

Fascinating history and a great view of La Bahia. Take a walk along El Paseo del Morro. Part of El Paseo was closed when I visited. Hope it opens up for you.
