Lovely walkway along the waterfront just outside the Old City walls. Try to time youur visit so you are not in the sun too much! (avoid mid day)

“Princess of Old San Juan streets”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Think a stroll along San Francisco’s Embarcadero or San Antonio’s Riverwalk. Paseo de la Princesa is more than a street, there are multitudinous sites to visit at no cost. At Pier 2 is Puerto Rico Tourism Company (across from la Casita), where you can get a free city map that details the trolley stops. (There’s no charge for any of the three trolley lines.) It’s here I learned of the three jail cells accessed through a building with 1837 (the year constructed, not the street number) over the doorway, where there’s another tourism office. It’s next to Fuente Raices, which fountain represents Puerto Rico’s cultural heritage. The street is wide, open to the bay and cruise ships, and there are parks with street artists on certain days. There are numerous things to see, and "Princesa" leads to City Gates and Plaza Rogativa. It's not necessary to pay for a guided tour, just walk along and discover all Old San Juan has to offer.
