This is my favorite place in my lovely island! I go everytime i can and spend at least 2 to 3 hours just enjoying the historic buildings and watching the tourist past by.

Excellent stores and restaurants.

Unique atmosphere!!

It is a nice a very nice and clean town, I enjoyed the walk through the cobblestone with many stores to shop and good restaurants to grab something to eat and drink.
The walk to El Yunque is long but worth it, take some water with you:)

i stayed in the heart of old san juan, i really loved everything about it i don't mind walking but for people who do not enjoy walking then they may not like it so much. I like the cobblestone look, to the friendliness of the locals to the local vendors that were selling coconut water straight from the coconut, to the empanadas(the outside is fried and inside could have from meat, to chicken, to seafood) you can find all of this where the cruise ship comes in, in old san juan. Puerto Rico are part of america but they truly have their own culture and you just have to love them for that!! enjoy your travels!!!

Nice to walk around town and visit the stores. Great old buildings and narrow streets. Feels pretty safe during the day, but I don't know that I would hang out at night. I recommend that you part at one of the parking garages near the main road in to save you the trouble of driving on the crazy narrow maze of one way streets.

Ok, we have all gotten off the cruise boats and been in one city or the next and they all blend together. Happy to say Old San Juan was different. Sure there are the vendors pushing everything under the sun with a San Juan written on it, but the architecture, restaurants, old forts and safe city make this a stop to make.
