As a local, I have the opportunity of visiting Old San Juan almost every week. Our family likes to go there for a morning stroll, a nice breakfast, a delicious lunch or just to enjoy the view and the ambience, It's a lovely place where tradition and the old Hispanic architecture are preserved for the enjoyment of locals and visitors as well.

Don't do a walking tour, just walk around yourself. The restaurants and bars are so unique and delicious, the cobblestone roads add history and flare, and the castle! You must visit the castle!

The Old San Juan is an enchanting city inside a city. Is an old town preserved in its architecture and charming Spanish flavor, but is lively, full of restaurants, stores and souvenirs places. A visit to Puerto Rico must include and afternoon walk in the Old San Juan streets. You will never forget it!!!

This beautiful old city is full of little plazas, balconies with hanging flowers, people getting together in its streets cafes. It attracts locals and tourists the same. One can not scape from feeling back in time. One of the most beautiful walks is around the old city wall, which is incredibly well preserved. You passed the old city door, the same one that was used in colonial times to enter the city. At the end of that street (or the beggining, depending if you are entering or exiting the gate), is the Hotel Convento, an old Nuns Convent, turn into a hotel. Is worth it to go inside and check it out. It have a nice terrace restaurant for tapas. I love the Newyorican Café for dancing salsa in the night.

A must see! you haven't seen PR if you haven't been to Old San Juan. walking the streets takes you back to 2 centuries. Lots of interesting historical glimpses, great views, lots of shopping (including high end outlets). Mingle among the locals, it's not just a touristy destination. Lots of great restaurants. Something for everyone.
