Lots of food and shopping all through town. Plenty to see and do plan on spending a day for this trip.

“Old San Juan”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Beautiful cobbled streets and picture postcard colored houses all within a near complete circuit of 18th century walls.
Lots of museums galleries shopping and food options.
Don't miss San Cristobal Fortress if you have time.
Perfect for a half day or a week - there's plenty to do!

“Must do”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

I'm not a huge fan of all the touristy stuff, but Old SJ is always a must for me and my wife. Lots of great restaurants, hotels, bars, etc. and an excellent place to check out the cultural sites - museums, etc. Plenty to do and very safe.

“Wonderful city - historic but alive!”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Old San Juan has done a wonderful job of preserving its past while remaining a living and vibrant city. Great (free) shuttle service to get around the city, good parking, but the city is best enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights, sounds and people that make old San Juan a new favorite destination!

“Interesting Place”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Walked around Old San Juan a couple of days during our week long stay in February 2013. Interesting architecture, seemed very European to me, most streets are cobblestone and sidewalks are narrow and uneven, so wear good walking shoes. Lots of shopping, some pushy others not. Lots of plaza type restrauants with mostly Puerto Rician food...duh! We took the city bus from the hotel district on Ashford Ave several times, very safe and cheap. Very crowded when ships are in port, but merchants very negotiable when no ships are in port. Visited the castles and forts and enjoyed the people watching.
