“Don't miss this - it's a step back in time!”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

Walking into areas that have been historically important for centuries is humbling. Definitely go with a guide as he/she will tell you the local history and the development of the fort and the surrounding area. The views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean take your breath away - and look among the rocks for iguanas hanging about. Gift shops are treasure troves of quality souvenirs. Lots of walking although there are some elevators available. Bring water (or buy it in the gift shop) - also remember your camera.

“Beautifully Historical...”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

No one should miss a trip into the past in Viejo San Juan. Steeped in history and romantic old world charm, Old San Juan is a wonderful mix of great shops, restaurants, bars, plazas filled with local people as well as tourists...and take the time to visit one of the old forts, such as El Morro or Castillo de San Cristobal. Also, Old San Juan is a photographer's dream, with the beautiful buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries.

“Charming Old World area”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Loved the cobblestone streets, colorful buildings and ever changing old world decor. The locals are friendly. I never understood allowing high end fashion houses into historic neighborhoods but you can find them here too. Leave your shopping to the end of the day, you will find the same items at pretty much every souvenir store.
