This was our first time staying in Old San Juan. CasaBlanca Hotel is right in the center of shops, restaurants and historic sites. It is easy walking distance from the forts and a beautiful walk around the sea walls. The rooms were adorable and quaint. There wasn't a lot of storage (no closet, just a rack with three hangers, etc.) But, who comes to Old San Juan for storage? Our room had a cute balcony (shared with the neighboring room) overlooking the cobblestone street. The restaurant was only open for breakfast, but the food smelled good (we aren't breakfast people, so we didn't try it.) Truly, the very best thing about the hotel was the staff. Miguel and Jorge were SO friendly and helped us make plans and navigate the city. At one point we got lost looking for a gas station - so we were low on gas, stuck in traffic and my phone for some reason wouldn't connect to the internet in a foreign country.......so I called the front desk and shared my panic attack with Miguel. I couldn't even see the street names, but I described the buildings around me and he figured out where we were and talked us to a gas station and set us on the path back to the hotel. He will always be a hero to us. We loved our stay there and give it our highest recommendation.

We stayed here a few days before our cruise. We wanted to explore Old San Juan. Located a few blocks from the cruise port=excellent.. We arrived and were greated by friendly staff. The bellhop helped us with our luggage. We stayed on the fourth floor two room Superior Suite with a balcony overlooking the street below. Great room indeed=kids loved having their own room and I loved the balcony. The rooftop lounge area was so relaxing. We'd sit up there watching the nightlife below. The lobby was very stunning. clean, modern, with Casablanca always playing. If you want a beautiful hotel in the heart of historic city)everything easy walk away) and one that is super close to cruise port==stay at this charming hotel.

Stayed in the queen with balcony room in new section. Very modern and well done renovation.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the heart of old town. Only $10 uber to SJU and a few dollars uber to condado beach.

Really nice rooftop and views.

First and foremost, this hotel was in a prime location, truly the “heart” of Old San Juan. We could not have asked for a better spot. The hotel *was* going through an expansion and some renovations while we were there, but it was easily overlooked, it did not affect us, and we found our room to be clean, in perfect order, and very comfortable; it was showing a little wear and tear, but to us, it was just part of the charm of Old San Juan. We wanted for nothing, as the staff was prompt and attentive (missing bar soap when we checked in, situation was immediately remedied).
The rooms were not huge, but they were more than spacious-besides, we did not come all the way to San Juan to stay in our room! There was more than enough room for two people to be comfortable in their Queen room.
The rooftop tubs were a huge advantage! We LOVED relaxing in them while watching the sunset over the city. This was certainly a huge plus! The bar was closed for the renovations, but there were at least five others all within sight, so getting a drink to take up to the roof was never a problem.
The only downside, if one could call it a downside, is that this hotel is not right next to the beach, then again, Old San Juan is not for anyone looking to be ON the beaches, as most require some walking or a short bus ride. Uber is also an option.
We also found the hotel to be, for what we were looking for, very reasonably priced, and that was a relief.
Lastly, can I just brag about the theme? We LOVED the nods to the movie Casablanca! From the “Do Not Disturb” signs for the doors and the fact that we could sit in the lobby and watch the movie every night. It made for such a fun stay to see such care and attention put into the theme (loved the Wifi password too!)
Hotel Casablanca is definitely for the budget minded traveller that is looking for something centrally located within Old San Juan. They may not have the frills of the upscale chains or boutique hotels, but they have more charm, consideration, and attention to detail than any of the upscale places more towards the beaches, and for that, we were extremely grateful. Would absolutely stay here again-in fact, we are planning for it in 2022!

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Old San Juan. The cleanliness of our rooms really stood out. Our first stay was a huge room with a sitting area. (See picture.). We had to carry our luggage up stairs though to get to it. The second stay (a week after we came back from our cruise) provided a very small room which was hard to maneuver around 5 pieces of luggage. We were able to use the elevator to access our room then though. Staff was helpful. Checking in and out was a breeze. We were able to drop off our luggage until check-in in a small room off the lobby which was great for our timing.
