“Nice boutique hotel with great location in Old San Juan”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

As others have mentioned, the hotel does not have elevators. They do have a lovely lobby lounge area, great breakfasts, mimosas and really helpful staff. The rooms are quite nice and very individual. The owners have had the hotel for a couple years and are still in the process of remodeling.

Friends made this reservation for us and I don't think they were aware that there isn't an elevator. They were on the 5th floor and we were on the 3rd. The bell hop did take the bags up and arrived promptly when called to help us check out. If you have any physical impairments that make walking difficult, don't stay here. We don't have any mobility problems and enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful with suggestions on what to see and do. Heads up on no elevator!

Room Tip: Ask for a lower floor!

My husband and I spent two nights at the CasaBlanca Hotel. It is extremely conveniently located in Old San Juan. We walked everywhere. Our room was comfortable, if a bit cramped. It was an inside room, with no window to the outdoors. Well, there was an air shaft outside the one window. This happened to be OK with us because we'd just spent a week next to a noisy nightclub. But normally, I wouldn't like an interior room. It was clean and comfortable, and quiet! We never located the phone in our room, and when we needed ice we had to go downstairs to ask for it, so it seemed a bit less polished than a more expensive hotel might be, but that is part of its charm.
There is no elevator, and the stairs are somewhat narrow and made of stone, so if that will bother you, ask for a lower floor room. The staff at the hotel was great! Friendly, helpful, and with a good sense of humor. We enjoyed having a glass of wine on the rooftop, and met some of our fellow guests up there while drinking in the panorama of Old San Juan.

My wife, I and our daughter stayed at this hotel. The staff members are extremely nice, welcoming, readily to help. The location is great, and decor is very tastefully done. We stayed in 2B, which is a suite with two rooms. The AC works well, bathroom is a bit small, but again, this is a boutique hotel.
We loved the experience, and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Each flight has three segment of stairs, if you have a baby stay on second floor is a must! It...

We stayed one night before our cruise. It was centrally located in Old San Juan, so we could walk everywhere. Loved the décor in lobby/restaurant and rooms. No elevator, but a strong young man carries your bags up to the room. If your room has a balcony, there are chairs to sit and watch the street, if not walk up to the roof deck where there is a lovely outdoor sitting area as well as individual bath tubs you could fill with either hot or cold water to soak in instead of a Jacuzzi tub. It didn't bother us, but if you need absolute quiet to sleep, ask for inside room. We had a street side room and did hear people leaving restaurants late at night as they walked home. Staff is friendly, the breakfast was good, they hold your bags after check out, giving you more time to look around the old town. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing El Morro and San Cristobal. We paid for entrance to both upfront, saved $1 each and saw El Morro the first day and San Cristobal the following day before our cruise. Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again !

Room Tip: Inside rooms quieter, but no balcony

The hotel has an excellent location in Old San Juan, everything within walking distance.

Staff is friendly. It seems that many people arrive at the same time from cruise ships etc, so you may have to wait at the reception.

The lobby decoration is interesting.

I had booked a king room and asked for a quiet room. It was on 5th floor. Help was was available for the suitcase.

Rooms are different, standard rooms are not large but are otherwise good and clean.

Despite that my room did not face the street, late night music etc could be heard. But it may be the same with other hotels in the area.

I might stay there again if I go to San Juan.

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and wished it had been four nights! We loved the charm of this old eclectic boutique hotel, with its awesome color scheme, very cool decorations and amazing light fixtures! (We fell in love with all the chandeliers and hallway light fixtures, to later find them being sold in a small Moroccan shop in Condada. We would have bought one but they didn't have the right size for us in stock). The hotel is perfectly located in old San Juan just a short walk from excellent restaurants and shopping. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The lobby is gorgeous and funky! The restaurant was perfect for breakfast, and had we had more time, I would have liked to just hang out at the bar for some fun drinks. We had a room on the fifth floor with windows that opened onto a balcony and looked out over the city. The room was very small but well decorated and there was a small lobby just outside the room that my husband enjoyed relaxing in while I took my time getting ready. The top floor balcony was perfect for relaxing and catching the view and the breezes. I can't wait to go back and enjoy four nights here one day soon! Do take into account the lack of elevator!

Room Tip: Lower level if you have trouble with stairs.
