What a beautiful lobby...tremendous chandeliers, morrocan and antique touches everywhere, cool modern art...Service staff were warm and helpful, even carried a heavy suitcase up( and back down !) to our 4th floor room.Presently no elevator, and each floor is large(high ceilings,at least that is good news for the rooms!).....Total of 77 wide steps to our floor!!!They are presently adding an elevator, great news....!Most rooms are interior, not facing the street...ours had a large window looking down(WAY down) to a part of the lobby.Best not to drink too much PR rum in the room....An old building, beautifully maintained and decorated.....Loved our time here!!!

Room Tip: Try to get one of the rare rooms facing the street, with balcony!

We stayed at the CasaBlanca January 31, 2014. We were taking a cruise leaving on the Saturday and arrived a day early to experience the city. We were able to walk to shopping and enjoy all the beauty of Old San Juan. The restaurant we chose for dinner at night was also within walking distance. Our room was on the fourth floor. We didn't mind walking up the stairs, and a employee carried our luggage for us. The roof top deck with the bathtubs was amazing. We enjoyed a soak after dinner. The views at night and earlier in the day were awesome. All the staff were very helpful: giving us directions and getting us transportation to the cruise ship the next day. We had a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant on Saturday. If you are looking for a unique hotel experience, this is the place for you and we would definitely stay here again.

This Hotel is for fans of the movie Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart. The first thing you will experience is the two wide screen TV in the lobby showing the movie Casablanca non-stop 24/7. Next the decorations of the main lobby and the dining area were designed after the movie's interior. In the bar area they have the movie Casablanca displayed on the back wall over the elephant shield. The receptionist were gracious and expedited all of your needs, including recommending a cab to Fajardo to catch the ferry to Isla de Vieques at an affordable rate. But what made this hotel for me was the fact that I asked if they had a pool and I was told no they have a terrace. So I went up to the fifth floor and out onto the terrace to be surprised with five giant stone tubes to satisfy my pool needs for a very private and romantic evening. So if you are looking for something out of the ordinary than the usual resort hotel, go to the Casablanca Hotel in the heart of Viejo San Juan, Isla de Puerto Rico. My wife and I had a fantastic time during Superbowl weekend.

My husband and I stayed here for 6 days/5 nights during our trip to San Juan, PR. The hotel's location is absolutely terrific - all the attractions in Old San Juan are only a few minutes walk away with restaurants and shopping all around the hotel. The hotel was very unique and interesting - a Moroccan getaway in the middle of the Caribbean. Our room was on the smaller side compared to what a chain hotel may have to offer but it suited our needs fine since we were out and about for most of the day (we got the balcony room so I can't speak for the size of the other rooms). The balcony was a plus - we would open the windows and the shutters during the day for a nice breeze and sunlight. The bathroom was probably the worst feature. It was very small and the water pressure was weak. Our mattress was also slightly squeaky so hopefully, you're a hard sleeper! Another thing to consider before booking a room here is that there are no elevators...so if you have a room on the 4th or 5th floor, you must walk up and down the stairs every time you come and go from the hotel. I didn't mind this because it helped me walk off some of the fantastic food I had while I was in San Juan :) They do have someone to take your suitcase(s) to your room and they will also send someone to bring it down for you when you check out. The rooms are clean and housekeeping does a good job of tidying up your room every day.

The Casablanca is an interesting, comfortable and fun hotel. The age and history of the building are embraced and maximized. This place is not for everyone. If you are looking for a place to stay that is predictable and perfectly put together, don't stay here. People who are looking for interesting, unique and fun will be thrilled. The soaking tubs on the roof are a treat; the mojitos are to dye for. The decor is fantastic and the staff are helpful and engaging. The AC leaked and there isn't an elevator. We loved it! We'd go back in a minute!!

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, ask for the 2nd floor.
