“THE WHITE BEAN SOUP TOUR OF SAN JUAN”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2012 via mobile

I don't know if this was better or worse before PETER SCHINTLER sold it ...
But it is REALLY GOOD NOW....
Start with a " Blind Bartender" ... Yikes!!!
Then go to the Tilapia.
Then eat eat eat.
( Ps- the "SIGNATURE" tuscan white bean soup is the pleasant ghost that PS left behind.)

“Jam is a Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2012

Jam is a veritable gem of a restaurant -- excellent, innovative cuisine, attentive and friendly service, an attractively funky decor, and totally unpretentious which is unusual for such a high quality restaurant (families with children would feel no less welcome than other patrons). Located just a block off Ashford Avenue, the main artery of the Condado, it is located in a large, old elegant building, walking distance from all of the main hotels. The bartender is a master of cocktails, but the Blind Bartender's Mojito is a spicy and extra minty improvement on this Puerto Rican classic. Everything is clearly super fresh. The ceviche with mango, avocado, and a tangy sauce is, quite frankly, the best I have ever had anywhere in the Latin world. The beer cheese which they supposedly make from a recipe of Abraham Lincoln's is truly savory. Indeed, Jam does wonderful dishes with cheese including a Latin variation of ratatouille with cheese. It was really a vegetable casserole with cheese, but it was delicious and gave the satisfying comfort-food sensation of a good oldtime macaroni and cheese casserole. Among the excellent desserts, the real standout were the freshyly made, piping hot, deep-fried, pumpkin Buñuelos served with dulce de leche, whiskey-soaked freshly-whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream on the side. They were heavenly. At the very end of the meal we were given as a token of the house, long shot glasses of coquito, a Puerto Rican holiday drink of coconut milk, rum, nutmeg and cinnamon -- a local version of Anglo-Saxon egg nog. Great food, relaxing ambiance, and very reasonable prices -- what more could one ask for?

“Great wine selection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

Organic, vegan, limited production. Sure do have some great wines for a Rum Bar. A must try is the Carpaccio with a Pinot Noir, cheers

“Relaxing spot with great drinks and food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

You need to take a cab to the restaurant as it is in it's own building but the decor is modern and it's a great place to have a small group or have conversations.

The rum concoctions were fabulous and the presentation of the food was beautifully presented. The servers had good recommendations (especially for the drinks). The food was very good and was an upscale version of local food such as mofongo and seafood specialties. The mofongo was excellent!
