What a charming little place. We were in the La Puerta apartment on the ground floor. Betsy, the apt manager, met us at the front when we arrived and led us in, giving us a quick tour. She also provided a little "places to go and things to do" sheet along with her own personal recommendations of restaurants. She was extremely helpful throughout our entire stay from letting us know about a small, nearby beach the locals use to stopping by to take out trash daily. However she was not intrusive which we really appreciated on our romantic vacation. The apt was pretty much just as depicted on the website though perhaps even more charming (the bathroom was beautifully renovated and the pics don't do it justice). It was extremely hot and humid while we were there, but the AC unit cooled the place down with remarkable quickness. The only AC issue was that a couple times the unit turned off in the middle of the night and it would get warm fast. It didn't happen every night and considering how well the unit cooled it was a very small hassle. One other thing. If you are a light sleeper or want a super quiet apartment to relax in during the day. La Puerta may not be the best apt for you. It is right on the street and in a really busy area of Old San Juan. You might have better luck with a top floor apt or another street in general. But for us, we loved being right in the center of the action and the outside background noise just added to the flavor of the trip. We would ABSOLUTELY stay here again!!

We stayed in La Puerta in Caleta 64. It was a magical experience. The maintainance of the apartment was amazing. Betsy, who owns the place, is was very helpful. The tree lined street and proximity to the San Juan Cathedral, San Juan gate and El Morro was great. We will forever cherish this experience.

This place is beautiful - yet needs a good scrub down. Caleta 64 is ranked at the top of TA for good reason. The location is excellent; situated in a famous neighborhood, yet the street itself is still quiet and lined with shady trees.

We stayed in "Adoquin" which is upstairs. The whole place is quaint but sadly it's in need of a major scrub down, spring cleaning, whatever it will take to remove the grime, mold, and inches of dust. Its not like I looked under the bed, the dirt was quite visible. (pics attached). Whats the point of having a fridge if its so nasty you dont want to put your food in there?

The owner seemed nice and professional, but if she denies the true condition of the place or makes excuses, then that's disappointing. There should NEVER be an excuse for mold and dirt. I think she's the only one who cleans the units....its starting to catch up with her. Please get help at least a spring cleaning!

Although these are adorable units, I'm not sure I would be able to return again.

Tips: if you have physical limitations, select a room downstairs b/c they will NOT assist with your luggage and the stairs are long and steep.

Betsy is a gracious host, very helpful, available for any questions. The location is perfect for a visit to Old San Juan. This is a complex of 4 separate renovated apartments in a quaint buliding right next to the famous El Convento Hotel. The location is perfect! The space was just right for our family. Ourunit had afull kitchen (completely equiped), washer and drier to add to the conveience. The renovation of this lovely old buliding is very very nice-- both comfy and chic. Wifi was a nice added plus.

I HIGHLY recommend this place!

We are two adults and two small boys (4 and 2/5) and we stayed in the Casablanca apartment. It is perfect in every way - beautiful, historic, comfortable, spotless, childproof, quiet, safe - an absolute treat! Old San Juan is a really amazing place (and a 500 year old UNESCO World Heritage Site) and really deserves more than a day or two. Next time we will spend much more time at Caleta 64!!! Thank you Betsy for your amazing hospitality!
