We are spoiled in St. Louis with over a dozen local craft breweries, so when we found out that San Juan had one-we just had to check it out. The stout was delicious, although it was more like a porter-it was very enjoyable.I also had their "coqui", which was a helles style lager- unfiltered and unpasteurized as well was yummy. The pale ale is also really nice- it is on the hoppier side. The pilsner was malty and good, but I didn't have a desire to drink a second one. We were only mildly disappointed that they were out of their seasonal brew.
The food was delicious. It was a little pricy- but the portions were nice. The bread they bring out is served with guava butter! I wanted to eat the butter once the bread was gone. Holy delicious! We tried the sampler of sides which had rice, beans, maduros and tostones- and that was too much food. We had been recommended the skirt steak "churrasco", and it was very tender and cooked perfectly med rare. I had a salad a well, and it was very good.
Our server was very attentive as well as friendly.
