We stayed at Jah B's for 2 nights and it was particularly beautiful! Jah B's Guesthouse sits near the trailhead to the hiking trails to Blue Mountain Peak. It is located just up the mountain from Hagley Gap.
So as to get there, in case you don’t have a Land Rover, you must contact ALEX at (--) to arrange that somebody will fetch you. Ask for the prices. Alex is precisely helpful.
Overall, the rooms at Jah B's are very plain furnished with the basic amenities but Jah B's family makes your stay so relaxing and cosy, while you can taste i-tal dishes made to order. It is absolutely the best place to chill out... Rates are reasonable and negotiable- ask for the fees before so as you will be prepared. The whole family is keen on helping you and making your stay the safest possible. ! Even if the place is quite isolated on the mountains, we never felt insecure contrary to other places in Jamaica. . We went as backpackers and i must admit that Jamaica is not the ideal place for backpackers. Jah B's place definitely is!
As far as we were concerned Alex (the oldest Jah B's son) picked us from Morant Bay with his 4x4 and after about an hour we arrived to his guesthouse The first night they arranged for us the hiking to the peek of the Blue Mountains. At around 2 at night we woke up, had our original blue mountains coffee and set up for a 4hour hiking with our flash lights guided by the other son, Rashah. It was totally brilliant! That was definitely one of the best experiences on the island! We chose to do the 7-mile up and back hike and reached the peak at dawn. From the peak you can see the whole island, and if the weather is good you can also see Cuba! The colors and the perfumes were awesome during the whole trail but be prepared to have warm clothes as up there is pretty freezing… The second day we just chilled out and walked down to the village…
The third day Rashah took us to Kingston with his Jeep (about 1,5 hour). He was so kind with us that he searched for our bus and he accompanied us until we got up to the bus for Negril so as not to interact with the hassles in Kingston! Thank you Rashah!
