“Stunning Wedding/Perfect Honeymoon”
Reviewed September 25, 2006

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the RDCC and have to say what a fantastic hotel. What made it even more special is that we got married here too and our family from the UK (28 in total - the biggest wedding party they have ever had) came out and joined us for our special day.

We arrived late that evening after a 1 1/2 hour coach ride to the hotel but once we arrived everything was "ire" The reception staff were lovely especially Natoyer she was the happiest out of all of them and always gave us help when we needed it and always with a smile.

The cottage we stayed in wasn't the one we asked for but we made the most of it and really didn't mind in the end as it was nice and clean with fresh towels to hand. When we woke the following morning, we thought we had died and gone to heaven as the beach and resort was breath taking. We had breakfast over looking the sea listening to the reggae music in the background. How lovely.

A big thank you to Ann the wedding co-ordinator. She made our day magical. She arranged everything right down to the best mans shirt in which we had forgotten in the UK!!! The photographer Paul had one of his assistance capture the day on camera and a fantastic DVD was made which I am so pleased with. The photos are stunning I have to say and so vibrant with colour. Thank you Ann for making our day so special.

We would like to thank the staff/chefs in all the restaurants at the resort. They made us feel so welcome and they do such a fantastic job working from 7am - 2pm most evenings. Unfortunately, not everyone was polite back to them, which we all found really rude. These guys are here to take care of us all and they do a brilliant job. On some occasions, we all felt quite embarrassed with some of the people staying at the resort because they were just down right ignorant.

The food at the Pick a Pepper restaurant was fantastic morning noon and night. It was tasty, plentiful and varied each day. We were not to keen on the food at the Jasmine Delta a la carte but the food at Nyamings Jamaican Fusion Restaurant was absolutely superb.

The entertainment crew were absolutely fantastic. We were entertained day and night with different themes/acts and games in which the audience took part in. My husband and his sis won the beer drinking competition and she also won the battle of the sexes!!! A big YO to Rocky, Sadeka, O'Neil, Maria and Ofello. You guys ROCK!!!

Big YO to the young lady that gave us our beach towels each morning. She was always smiling and giving us jokes!!

We visited Dunn's River and Bob Marley 'shome, which was brilliant. I recommend it to all.

And of course the famous George at the Beach Bar Jetty Bar. You are the man!!! Shame we didn't get a chance to say goodbye before leaving.

All in all everyone in our party really loved the RDCC and we all didn’t' want to leave but hopeful some of us will return in years to come. I know we will. My mum lives on the island, stayed with us at the hotel, and has said how wonderful it was and intends staying for a long weekend in the near future.

I find it hard to find any fault with this hotel at all apart from the air conditioning, which I think they need to replace in all cottages. How others can say this hotel is awful is beyond me as we found it to be paradise.

If anyone wants any more info about the RDCC or on our wedding, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Nuff Respect RDCC!!!

We stayed at the Royal Decameron and had a fantastic time. The staff were brilliant especially Jeffery, Jermaine and Annakaye to name but a few who worked in the buffet. They could not do enough for us. The cottages were lovely and cleaned every day, towels were always nice and clean, I thank Carmelita for this, she was a god send. The beach towels could be changed whenever you wanted them to be. The entertainment was very good as well, you have to like reggae but that is what Jamaica is all about. Thanks to Jerome and the true vibrations. We went to Kingston to the Bob Marley house and studio which is good if you like Bob Marley. You must go to Dunns River Falls and climb to the top, it is awesome, also the cycle tour down the Blue Mountain is another good day out. All in all we had a fabulous holiday and would not hesitate to go back again. The only downfall was the 24 hour delay going there due to a hurricane but no one can help the weather. Enjoy Yeah mon Respect.

We have just returned from a great holiday at this hotel and were
more than pleased with the whole set up. Everything from the reps, service, food and clenliness were spot on. They provide lots of tour options and the Mr Motivator tour, which includes Quad biking,Zip wires and nature trail is a MUST. We cannot think of anything negative to write about the hotel or holiday in general.NO PROBLEM, MON !!!!!!

Apple Vacations says this place is great and I am here to tell you it is like throwing your money in the toilet. The front desk personnel are rude, the room was dirty, musty, and some fixtures falling apart, the entertainment during the day was great, however lacked in the evening and the food never changed flavor even though it changed appearance. We booked for 5 days and switched to a hotel in Montego after 3. Apple Vacations does not stand behind the resorts that they endorse, nor will they even cover the extra cost of even the taxi to change hotels. They charged us 200usd per night extra for new hotel, when online it was only a 40usd difference and had the nerve to offer 50usd off our next vacation. STAY AWAY FROM APPLE VACATIONS AND THE ROYAL DECAMERON RESORT!!!!!!

I too read the reviews before traveling to this hotel and was concerned about not getting what we booked. After arriving 1 1/2 hrs late, we had no problems checking in with the friendly girl at the front desk. Beware though when they give you the "bracelet"...make sure it is comfortable when they put it on, otherwise you will be charged $5 U.S. to have it removed and redone! (we were there less than an hour and my sister had this problem "sorry, hotel policy".) I had emailed the hotel before we arrived to confirm our reservations and told them I was coming to celebrate my birthday and told them again when we checked in, but nothing was acknowledged. When my sister mentioned it, their response was basically "oh well, too late now"
Food was ok at the buffet, pretty much the same every day...the ala carte resturants were better. Towels in the room are a problem, they sometimes didn't come until late afternoon. The nite time entertainment was pretty boring, but they tried. The bartenders at the jetty bar are the best, especially Alvin! He never let our cups run dry, even while we were sitting in the water! If you're a sun worshiper, make sure you get your chair or cabana on the beach EARLY as they're pretty much gone by 8 a.m.! Same goes for signing up for the glass bottom boat or snorkeling trip.
If you like to party and plan on doing the Dunns River Falls, sign up for the Cool Runnings trip, it's a blast! We had such a good time and our bus driver, Marlon 'Brando' even stopped for Jerk on the way back for us! He continues the party back to the hotel with his singing and everyone joins in! Ya Mon!
Would I go back to RDCC? Yes! The cottages were great and bottom line is you make your own good time and the best of a situation. I just hope they hurry up and finish the construction on the main highway to the hotel because it makes the trip getting there too long after sitting on a plane!
Any questions?...feel free to contact me @ davendeerisle@comcast.net

Having read some bad reviews before booking the holiday I was left with the impression that perhaps the Americans expectations were to high, but having just returned from the RDCC i am inclined to agree with their comments. After appox 21hrs (allowing for time difference) of sitting in airports and travelling we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by the reception staff informing us of the penalties incurred if we were to loss our towel tickets or armbands, also whenever you approached the front desk you are given the impression that "here comes another problem". Breakfast and lunch were ok but evening dinner became something i did not look forward to, very sameish with uncooked vegatables, meat that had to be chewed for sometime and bland tasting desserts. Apart from a couple of restaurtant staff the rest are in dire need of training as a priority, they are rude and rarely look happy, we had to leave one person sitting at the table at all times to avoid our food or drinks being removed, even then they would try and remove drinks left unattended, on a few occasions when entering the restaurant i had to set my own table, one evening the cleaner started bleaching the floor whilst people were still eating and i'm talking strong smelling bleach.
The compare Rocky thanks his bar pre-tenders jokingly at close of showtime!! but its near the truth as they seem to busy themselves doing nothing rather than serve a customer, i happened t obe the only person waiting at the bar one late evening, the young lady behind the bar did not acknowledge me (although i was standing right in front of her) for a couple of minutes while she was wiping the bar down, i also observed other guests left waiting for no particular reason.
There were four personal whom we got to know quite well that were the friendly face of Jamaica and a special guy called George who runs the jetty bar, it's a shame that the friendly staff at this resort seem to be the minority!! yet the whole crew on a catamaran trip we were on were excellant.
As you can ascertain from this review if i were ever to visit Jamaica again i would not stay at or recommend the RDCC to anybody who asks my opinion, as we all work hard and save for a 2 wk vacation that we hope will turn out to be a holiday of a lifetime, sadly this one wasn't, NO-MAN.

Firstly, we're very happy that we didn't read any of the reviews, particularly from Americans, prior to our holiday.
On arrival, having spent 25 hours travelling from our home to the RDC, coupled with a hideous experience in the airport, we were not most pleased to find our accommodation unready. However, ALL of the staff from the porters to the reception staff and entertainment staff were most apologetic and took us to the bar to get some food whilst the room was being prepared. We did not get a cottage as originally expected, but had the most fantastic suite, it was kept clean, with fresh bed linen every 2 days, the A/C was brilliant and not a bug in sight. The only problem we had was that the shower didn't work properly. We reported this to reception in the morning and by the time we went back to our room at 5pm it was perfect.
All of the staff without exception at the RDC were polite, friendly, and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. In a country where people have so little, how on earth can they be so happy, polite and helpful to people that have so much without the slightest hint of resentment. We think that most other nationalities, including the Brits, could learn a lot from these lovely people. The gardens were a dream, they were impecably tended with not so much as a leaf out of place. Pablito's pool was immaculate, not easy with the mess some people left.
To Maria, Sadeka, Delita, o'Neil, o'Fell, o'Kiel and Pablito, saying goodbye was like leaving family!! Thank you for making our first holiday in Jamaica one we will never forget and can't wait to repeat. The entertainment was brilliant, always fun and the audience were encouraged to take part, but not bullied to do so. The resident band, True Vibrations were amazing, brilliant voices and the Mento bands were entertaining. One of the biggest shocks was Albert "the hat maker", when he took the microphone the whole place came to a shocked standstill. He was incredible. To all of the staff from waiters to gardeners including reception/management, sorry we don't know all of your names, but you were fantastic.
The food was fantastic, we had never seen so much of every food imaginable. It was delicious and a huge variety was available for every meal.
We went out on one day trip which was Dunn's River Falls and Swimming with Dolphins. These were absolutely amazing and we would highly recommend them. There was not one thing about this place we didn't like which is why we only did one trip out!
