“Salt with sweet water”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

Salt water swim in deep, deep blue sea. Swim off the salt later in fresh water spring.
Another spot, Nanny Falls, is well worth visiting in Mooretown, a mountainous area, which is accessible via Port Antonio. Wait on William Street in P.A., get off at last stop. About 30-40 minute ride. beautiful. Cost $150JAmaican (re $1US). Ask the taxi/van driver for guides Marvin and Shane who live in Mooretown. I went with them twice.Knowledgeable, safety-conscious, best adventure yet.Jungle-like hiking, swim at unspoilt, low-touristy falls. Definitely off the beaten path. Marvins cell is (1-876) 475-7895. You contribute what you can for their effort. (We each gave each young man $10US equivalent for all day hike/waterfall memorable adventure.)

“if you are in port antonio area, worth a visit, otherwise don't travel just for the sake of it”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I liked the color of the lagoon, it is really amazing. take a 10 minute trip with a boat. Besides the water there is really nothing else. The guide will show you in which villa Tom Cruise or Ziggy with friends stayed, or which movie was filmed at the spot, but I am not impressed by that info.

“Free attraction with charge for a boat ride - beware of hustlers charging USD”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

The attraction is definitely worth a day trip if you are in Port Antonio. There is ample place for parking and you can park your vehicle and enter the lagoon area FREE of charge.

You can even enter the lagoon area through a gate (which we didn't know until we paid the raft guy). So, it's pretty much a FREE attraction if you just want to swim in the lagoon and the mineral pool and don't want to take the raft.

You can pay one of the several raft guides for a lazy ride to the lagoon and back. It is a 10-15min ride to the lagoon and he drops you at the mineral pool area.

The guy started with $100 USD for a family of four and ended up with $2000JMD. It was probably worth JMD 1000 for a family for the raft trip.

We heard it was a great place to swim, but the locals hanging around trying to talk you out of your money stopped that. The place has been closed for a while. If you've got someone to guard your stuff than you could swim, but don't pay anyone for anything.
