“Relaxing Bamboo River Raft”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Heard about this before my trip, and pretty much ruled it out...but SO glad I was convinced to go! Beautiful journey, scenery, and plenty of sun and swimming opportunities. Ask to stop at the fresh water spring for some delicious flowing drinking water!

“Rafting on the Rio Grande”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Used Rally from Rally Tours (876) 845-2307 / 776-5591. Superb taxi driver, looked after us our entire 7 day stay in Jamaica, went above and beyond to make our trip especially memorable. Give him a call, you won't be sorry. Rio Grande was a long drive from Montego Bay, not sure how it compares to the Martha Brae rafting but the drive was very scenic. Cost is $72 to take 2 people on a bamboo raft up river, they stop a couple of times to swim in the beautiful clear water. Very quiet, secluded spot, we were the only people there which is what we wanted. No food, drink for purchase, no change rooms or bathrooms, just local habitat. Afterwards we went to Boston Jerk Centre, best jerk we had on our visit, totally local and authentic, superb.

“Worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We visited the Rio Grande the classic way: bamboo raft. Looked touristy to me but we went based on numerous recommendations by our hotel. Glad we did. Was beautiful, relaxing, and refreshing on a hot Jamaican summer day. Plus, we stopped at Melinda's food shack on the banks of the river and enjoyed her stewed chicken, rice and peas, yellow yam, and callalou. Best meal of many excellent ones while we were in Jamaica.

We went rafting here. Beautiful time. Stopped for lunch along the river. Ate delicious local food cooked there. Learned how to pole myself down a river. Will do it again.
