This is the most lovely place on the island.
I have stayed at almost every place in Negril and Sea Grapes is by FAR the best.
Whenever I go to Jamaica there is NO question of where I will stay.... Sea Grapes all the way for me.
Juicy is the best cook ever~~ Bentley keeps the grounds immaculate~ Christine keeps the place neat and clean~~and the pups are an added bonus.
If you want to really enjoy the essence of Jamaica you will love Sea Grapes.

well...ALMOST every year i go to lovely Sea Grape--sometimes by myself to write, do yoga and rejuvenate and sometimes with my boyfriend. I've been about 10 times; it's always clean, super romantic and lovely in every way. The folks who work there take care of any needs you have and leave you completely alone so you really feel like you have your own little home in paradise. Swimming off the cliffs in your own private cove is amazing. Just across the street is a friendly market for all of your daily needs and within a most beautiful short walk are 3 great places to eat. We even have fun cooking with local fruits, veggies & other local flavors in the little kitchen stocked with everything you need. We always miss the outdoor tropical shower when we come home. The bath inside is great but the outside shower overlooking the sea is a fabulous experience! I can't say enough about this place.

On July 22-26, 2010 my family and I rented all three villas, WildGrape, Sea Grape and Big Grape, to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. Unfortunately, the accommodations were very disappointing and the service by the staff was just as disappointing and inadequate.
First, I will say that the view from all three villas were breathtaking, however the
accommodations were beyond disappointing. The problems started upon arrival. Upon
entering the house we were greeted by a foul odor. It seemed as though the house was not properly ventilated which caused it to have a distinct odor. Moreover, there
were cobwebs growing from the television and the lampshade, this led me to believe
that the house was not properly prepared for our arrival. The sofa cushions also
had a similar odor as well. Additionally, the television had no volume/sound; the CD
player did not work and with kids in the house it was torture not being able to entertain
them. More importantly, it’s more practical for the kitchen to have a microwave instead
of the blender. Another huge disappointment was the bathroom. The shower curtain had
mold and mildew, it was literally scary and filthy.

Second, with regards to Sea Grape, the first bedroom upon entering the villa had cobwebs in the corner of the bed and the sheet was not clean; upon turning on the AC unit, shortly thereafter, the AC unit began leaking to the point where the sheets were wet and water from the leaking AC unit had entered into the living room area. As a result, we were unable to use that bedroom for the 4 nights we were there. Additionally, there was not enough water pressure to completely flush the toilet which was very unsanitary and the window shutters were unable to completely closed which caused insects and lizards to enter the house constantly.

Third, the discrepancies at the Wild Grape includes, the AC unit in the bedroom that had
the twin bed did not work and similar to the Big Grape the house also needed air
freshener because of the odor; there was no shower curtain in the bathroom that had the
king size bed and more importantly, there were roaches all over. There were numerous
roaches in the bathroom; the kitchen towel had roach eggs; and there were
roaches inside the refrigerator and last the microwave did not work.

I just read one of the reviews and had to write one in response. Four of us stayed there last July. When we first walked towards our cottage, we were in awe of the beauty of the path and then, the panoramic view of the sea! We had at least one meal cooked a day and it was authentic Jamaican food, and delicious. Our grounds guy set us up every morning before we went down to swim. No one was intrusive.
It was private and we felt safe there. There's a mini-mart right across the street for your convenience and plenty of restaurants a few minutes away. It was quiet and peaceful. We were sad that we hadn't planned a longer trip. It did seem odd to us that none of the windows had screens but none of the hotels on the cliffs do. The beauty of the place is that you are actually always living outside. The key - keep the bedroom doors closed all day so no mosquitoes get in at night. We had no problems sleeping and no problems keeping the bedroom doors closed. We brought our friends there this summer just to see it and they can't wait for next summer to stay at Sea Grape Villas.

We stayed in the largest of the villas, I believe it was the Wild Grape. Beautiful bungalow with great views. Very clean and we were happy the kitchen had a blender so we could make our own drinks. The caretaker Bentley was a sweetheart, made us feel very welcome and safe. I would recommend having Juicy cook dinner for you some night. He made us Jamaican Brown Stew Fish and it was excellent. This would be a 5 star review if not for the poor air-conditioning. It didn't work well in either bedroom, especially the master. The a/c read 18 degrees (65 F) but it was over 80 degrees in there at night and with the high humidity, it was really difficult to get comfortable enough to fall asleep.

This place doesn't have a pool but we were welcome at the Negril Escape right next door so we took advantage of that nearly every day.

As for food...my brother and I are foodies and love to eat great meals. We went for a fancy meal at Rockhouse one night. It was good, but not really worth the $170 we spent. The best meals we ate were from street vendors, As a matter of fact they were fantastic! Take a taxi to a neighborhood of Negril called Red Ground. There you will find Ragabone's Red Dragon....the most amazing jerk pork I ever had. It's the only jerk shop in Negril that uses pimento wood. It was unbelievable! Second best meal was the curried goat from Alice's restaurant just down street from Sea Grape Villas. Alice's fried chicken with sauce was also great. And as I mentioned above, don't forget to have Juicy cook you at least one meal at Sea Grape.

I first visited Negril in 1973 and have been coming back for all these years, first as a single girl and in recent years as a wife.
We love this small resort because of its privacy and service. We stay at the Sea Grape which is sooooooo private. We have dinner each night that is prepared by Juicy and I must say, that it is quite good!!!!!! We dine while watching the sun set. The two other workers are lovely Christine and Bentley.
We snorkel there each day and we love it.
It is quiet and romantic.
Margo will organize the trabnsfer.
We go to the beach when we want some shallow water to swim in.
There is a Mini Mart right across the road and that makes it convenient for buying your -do- it -yourself blender drinks.
The villa, itself, is immaculate. We bring our own music and we have the privacy to listen to our favorite tunes all week long.
THIS IS THE BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will not go anywhere else!!!!!!

My wife and I spent a week at Sea Grape last summer and it was an amazing experience and we are actually planning to go back this summer. The cottage we stayed in was amazing and the view of the cliffs overlooking the ocean was spectacular. Every morning we would get up to watch the sun rise over the Caribbean and go for a quick swim. The set up of the resort allows you to feel you are in a secluded resort even though all of the exciting Negril hot spots are easy to get to.

When we arrived the staff greeted us at the gate and as we walked down the pathway to our cottage it was amazing and we knew we had arrived at an island paradise. The chef visited us shortly after we checked in and asked if we would like to eat dinner on the premises. Since we had had a long flight and were enjoying the view, we said that sounded fantastic. We had the most amazing jerk chicken ever, this was not fake Americanized chain Jamaican food, but an amazing meal that made us feel that we were getting a true Jamaica experience.

Even though you are in a secluded resort everything that you read about Negril is right at your fingertips. We went into town, visited Rick's Cafe (highly recommend) all with easy two minute cab rides. Additionally when we needed gatorade or aspirin (a few too many mojitos one evening) there is a neighborhood market within walking distance that has everything you need and a great staff that let us in on the secret spots of Negril (non-touristy points to hit on your trip).

This was a trip that surpassed our expectations, and we will be back at Sea Grape this summer.
