Catcha Falling Star is a small, intimate resort with amazing views and the best Sunsets. I get what some people have written about lack of amenities, but it is not a five star all-inclusive resort and I really liked the vibe of the place. Also, everything was kept very clean. It would be nice to include basic toiletries such as Shampoo/Conditioner. It was a plus to have a fridge in our room. We stayed in the new Sky Cottage which is a beautiful thatched roof cottage with a perfect view of the varying different shades of blue water w/ a balcony that you can sit on for hours and just read, talk or chill. My husband and I enjoyed being stress free and were also entertained by the party boats that sailed by on the way to Rick's everyday! It was the first vacation I returned from and I actually felt like I did not need a vacation from my vacation! The food at Ivan's was good, but not being an all-inclusive we had some great meals at various restaurants all within walking distance or a short ride away. It is definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive from MBJ airport to reach this beautiful destination. We loved it so much we plan to return in December!

We have stayed in Catcha for two nights. Nice location with nice little cottages and very nice daybeds to sunbath next to the accessible water from the cliffs. We have paid 200$ a night in the low season and for that amount of money I had expected to have:- An airconditioner that worked, a/c was showing errors- Not to see 3 cockroaches per day in the room...- Not to be wakened up two night in a row at 4am because the guards are talking loud with each other.Catcha has the location, the nice restaurant and the right atmosphere, but has to work on some details to come to its full potential.

Thank you for your positive feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay.
We also welcome your negative comments which helps us to correct any problems we might have.
We did find a hole in one of the manholes which probably caused the roach problem. We have since corrected the problem and we have also spoken to the Guard Company.

Regards

My husband and I have been coming to catcha for 3 years now. It was love at first site when I saw catcha online. We have the option of going anywhere in the world and we choose catcha. We always stay in the Sagi which has an awesome view,an outdoor shower, and AC. they added 2 new rooms which are absolutely gorgeous!!! This is the only place where we feel at peace and get plenty of rest. The grounds are beautiful, the people are amazing. We love the wait staff, they make every visit so enjoyalbe. THe bartenders are fun and we had many fun nights closing down the bar. We have met so many nice people who we keep in touch with. The food is always amazing, our favorite is the jerk chicken penne pasta and the jerk shrimp. For breakfast we love the johnny cakes and the banana pancakes are soooo good. I love that you can just lay by the pool and have food delivered to you. If you don't see something on the menu just ask they may be able to make it. I love the pumpkin soup, I get it everytime...you must try it!! I didn't see it on the menu but when I asked for it, they had it the very next day.Wayne was our driver to and from the airport, he is very reliable, trustworthy and a great guy. I love everything about catcha, there is not one negative comment you can say about that place. I am always sad to leave and book our next trip the day we leave. Catcha is by far number one!!!! I highly recommend to everyone if you are staying in Negril to stay there.

Room Tip: Every room is good...Sagi is on the expensive side but has the best views, Gemini rooms are smaller...

Catcha has gotten bigger over the years but managed to keep its small property intimacy. My wife and I stayed in the new Coral Cottage and aside from a minor air-conditioner water leak (that was promptly fixed the next morning), it was delightful. We must admit that with the addition of more rooms and the expansion of Ivan's Restaurant we hope this is the last expansion this intimate property goes through.

Our stay this trip was short -- two nights. We arrived at Catcha around noon and were pleased that our room was already ready. Coral Cottage has a wonderful front porch. It provides the feeling that you are on a dais overlooking the property and sea. The porch has two chaise lounge chairs, a table with two chairs and a couch. We did a tiny bit of rearranging to suit our tastes. The room has ample storage and a large bathroom. The bed is firm but not hard. Indirect light pours in during the day and doors and windows are easily opened to allow the breeze to flow through. We wish we could have extended our three day and two night stay.

The staff at Catcha is openly friendly and a joy to be around. Service is always friendly.

Ivan's Restaurant and bar continues to serve delicious food and drink. Although service is always with a smile, it is not always swift. But this is Jamaica and fresh food prepared to order is worth waiting for when it is this good.

The plunge pool that divides the restaurant and bar from the swimming and lounging areas is a welcome addition. It was kept spotlessly clean for the three days we were on property. There is plenty of sunny and shaded lounge space so there is no need to hustle to a chaise at 6:30 in the morning to "reserve" a spot. Access to and from the sea is either easy (for those willing to take a small leap) to a tiny bit awkward (for those who only use the ladders). The small cove can be amazingly calm or stunningly rough, and everything in between -- it all depends on the weather and prevailing winds. A lifeguard was on duty every day we were there. We felt safe.

We took a walk past Rick's Cafe to the lighthouse and beyond and did stop into LTU for a snack. There are many properties within easy walking distance so you are not in need of a rental car. If you do need to travel a bit, the taxis are reasonable -- but remember to always ask the fare before getting in.

It was nice to be recognized by one of the owners and many on staff as returning guests -- one of the advantages of returning to an intimate property.

We would highly recommend this property for those who are willing to relax. If you are uptight in any way this property will not suit you. There are many imperfections here as there are in nearly every vacation property in Jamaica. However, Catcha has a special charm to it and a vibe that tends to fill you with joy. It begs, just breathe!

We spent two nights at CFS July 28th and 29 th. . We only booked two nights here because we thought we may get bored. We we then moved to the beach to the Grand Pineapple for five nights. We ended up staying 3 nights at the Pinepple, and moved backed to the cliffs. CFS was booked up, so we we stayed our last two nights, down the road at Xtabi. After staying on the cliffs ,we will probaly never return to the beach. About the cliffs. Pure paradise. much quieter, the people were very different. If you were walking down the road the vendors would offer their
goods ,but were not pushy. The cliffs have so many places to eat.
Now about Cartcha A Falling Star. We stayed in Gemini 2 . we booked late and only had two choices. this small cottage is split into 2 separate cottges. You have a very private deck area with a large umbelled table and two lounge chairs. Inside you have a tv with lots of channels, air conditioning, frig and microwave. We had plenty of space , quiet. Good view of the ocean. the food and drinks at Ivans was very good. Prices were no different then anywhere in Ohio. he views for dining and the bar are awesome. Pool is small, but does the job. Lounge chairs everywhere you look. You feel like your in paradise. Even though the resort was booked up , you see very few people. The staff here was incredible. I would say they were the friendliest , most hard working staff I have ever seen. They keep this resort immaculate. Check in and checkout was effortless. They arranged our airport pickup. we walked into the hall of the airport where the tranportation desks after retrieving our luggage. we were pointed exactly where to go and our driver Wayne King was waiting on us. He told us to take our time, go to bathroom, grab some beer and he would wait on us. He also stopped at store on way to resort so we could pick up some things. We have already booked for next yr. We highly recommend this resort. We will never book an AI hotel in Jmaiaca again.

Room Tip: I would say Ny room would be a good room.

As other travelers have reported, the views from this hotel are amazing. The hotel has a very relaxing vibe, plenty of places to sit and chill. The young people jumped from the cliffs. There was a small pool for those of us who didn't want to brave the sea. We had a massage at the hotel and it was excellent. Service was friendly. They were happy to arrange taxis, excursions, etc., though it was a bit more expensive than what you would pay if you booked on your own. We stayed in Aquarius, which was a two bedroom suite. While the rooms were adequate, this is not a luxury resort, so you need to adjust your expectations. The large balcony was great. The biggest drawback was no central air conditioning. Only the bedrooms were air conditioned. Other people have complained about the internet service, but we had no problems. Service in the restaurant for breakfast was slow (plan 11/2 hours minimum), but we weren't in any hurry. We liked staying on the cliffs due to the laid back atmosphere. The beach was a short taxi ride away and there are many places that allow you to use their lounge chairs and beach umbrellas.

Excellent, truly exceptional in every way -- the entire property, location, staff helpful and friendly, cottage spacious and clean, quiet, relaxed, stunning views of the sea, hammocks -- except meals service was way too slow on every occasion we ate at Ivan's and room service.

Room Tip: Loved our rooms next to each other, Leo and....mmm can't recall but its the one right next to Le...
