“Best view in Negril!”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights leading up to new years. The location is perfect also feels very safe. Guarded at night. Only 5 rooms, which makes it very relaxed and private. Close to good bars and restaurants and some smaller grocery stores. The rooms are clean and we loved the fact that they have a fridge where you can stock up on cold beer after a day in the sun. The mosquito nets were in good shape too so you could leave the windows open. The cliff jump from the hotel might be one of the coolest things you can do and then swim through the caves back up. The snorkeling in the bay is really wonderful, especially behind the buoys. It's really the best spot in West End Negril. The only thing we missed was a lower jumping point and stairs back up on the hotel side (now you come up through the caves on the other side of the street), but after speaking to the owners hopefully that wont be to far away in the future. The local street in front of the hotel can be a bit loud and a good idea is to bring ear plugs, especially if you like to sleep with the windows open and not use the AC. Wished the "sun deck area" could be a bit more cosy, especially at night with some more lights. ;) Both of us can't wait to come back soon! Thanks Jaysen, Stennant and Mae for a lovely stay! Love Linda & Jakob

Room Tip: Ask for the Queen room or any of the rooms with a view. All rooms have AC. Call in advance so someon...

We are so glad we chose this place! Stayed here just before Christmas for a week with our in-laws. It was a very safe and secure home base for us. We took day trips to 7-mile beach, Little Bay, Green Bay, and the nearby hillside communities. The property is gated and the owners who live across the street are on watch most of the time.

The room fridges were a big help as we were able to go grocery shopping in town. Alvynegril also provided deck/reclining chairs to enjoy beautiful sunsets, and relatively easy entry into the ocean via the cave across the street. The snorkelling was nice and the bats are amazing to watch at night. A few steps away is the incredible Rockhouse resort, where we enjoyed fresh coffee each morning, and many of our meals at its different restaurants.

The price is unbeatable, considering that hotels nearby are at least three times the price, and this place offers basically the same amenities. Literally the *only* drawback is the road noise at night, but if you bring earplugs, it's not an issue. Everyone was so friendly... especially Miss May, who was very helpful with arranging taxi rides/tours and getting us settled in when we arrived. Thank you for a wonderful stay :)

Stayed here during wedding weekend...perfect retreat after day and night with family and friends. clean, quiet (maybe too for some quiet - I was only guest but felt perfectly safe!). Nice view from veranda. didn't do any jumping but our catamaran stopped in front and we were entertained by two young locals (quiet good backflip but wouldn't recommend tourists try...it was quite evident the boys knew the water and rocks!)

Could use in room coffee maker but other local resorts serve good brew at their restaurants...
All in all, a great place to stay, especially if you want to avoid the cliche hotels that line the road!

We arrived at night- which made things a little scary for two girls traveling alone to a foreign country. At first, we were worried because there was no front desk and we initially thought no one to greet us. Then a gentleman named Stennant came out to greet us and show us the room. We had our driver wait for us- just to be certain it was okay and that we didn't need to go anywhere else. The room was small, but beautiful and clean. The bathroom also small, but spotless. This is the perfect place to stay if you're looking for adventure travel and don't stay in your room much. My friend and I like to get out and mingle with locals and SCUBA vs. sitting at a resort and mingling with people from our own country. As far as amenities go, there aren't any to speak of. No phones, deck chairs, meals or all-inclusive anything. In my opinion, that is exactly how I like to travel. There are beautiful cliffs just in the back of the property with water deep enough to jump into and a cave- known as Joseph's cave- to swim into. Inside the cave you can exit the water and climb the stairs to the property across the street owned by Ms. May. She is a lovely woman with three dogs and a little bar in her front yard for guests. If you like to jump again, you just walk back across the street to the guesthouse, jump and repeat. There is a security guard named Junior who watches over the property during the night hours and he ensures the gate is locked when the last guest comes in. He has wonderful stories and has led an interesting life- a real treat to speak with. We had a lovely time and would definitely stay here again. Thank you to Jaysen, Stennant, Miss May and Junior for a lovely time.

If you are looking for a treasure, you've found it at Alvynegril! A simple, modest, immaculate guesthouse that offers one the comfort of a family visit, yet you know no one. A perfect place for a lone female traveler, a group waiting to board a cruise ship in the days ahead, or a couple wishing to ground themselves, and simply enjoy the Jamaican way of life for a few days. Within these casual accommodations, swim in Joseph's Cave with Damoli, allow Aunt Mae to serve you an afternoon drink and some words for the wise, call on Gregory to take you to Rolling River to meet Robert for a soak in the mineral bath, and a breathtaking tour of the caves.

When you arrive back to meet the sunset at the end of the day, Miss Grace will have tidied up your room if you asked her to, and Stennant will be there to see that all of you needs have been met for the day. Rest assured when you choose to fall off to sleep the gate will be secured for the evening, and Mr. Junior will watch over you as he stands guard and fishes through the night.

Great Restaurants are a stone's throw away; Push Cart, Serious Chicken, Sips & Bites and 3 Dives. Head left and go to the Bar at Xtabi; turn right and go to the Rockhouse Bar. Regardless of the direction you choose while staying at Alvynegril you are safe, the sunset is beautiful, and if you're cool, you will have no worries "mon". After all, you are with family.

Wow I was looking for some where located in west end rd, this place is hidden inbetween restaurants and the sea... The view is absolutely perfect. On waking my first morning I found catamarans under this guest house... To my surprise they were all visiting the beautiful caves located under the property. This was a hidden extra I never banked on. This place is value for money...only one complaint...I should have known about this place earlier.

After coming from our very expensive stay on 7 mile beach (a tiny 10x10 cabin that was $80/night), our stay at Alvynegril was a huge sigh of relief. We booked it for the price and were pleasantly surprised by the value. The staff was awesome and very accommodating. It is a family run guesthouse right above Pirate's Cove with the best sunsets Negril has to offer. You can go across the street to the guesthouse owned by the cousin and go down into the caves and swim in the Caribbean. If you're adventurous, you can jump off the cliffs right from the hotel! Very clean rooms, near great restaurants (I suggest Three Dives and The Hungry Lion), and very safe location. FYI - as of now there is no pool which was no problem for us - we'd rather dip in the sea. Great stay!
