“Even better the second time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2010

This was our second stay at Moon Dance Villas. This time we occupied the 4 bedroom Azure Sky Villa.

Booking - Excellent communication with Kim who handled all of our requests from her Chicago office. Very professional and thorough in making sure there were no surprises.

Transportation - 1.5 hour drive to the resort with a cooler full of Red Stripes and other beverages....could not have been better.

Arrival - Greeted by Oneika and our staff for the week as we exited our vehicle. Cold wash cloth and rum punch....an excellent start. They all escorted us to our villa and welcomed us like we were family.

Villa - Our villa was immaculate. All rooms were exceptionally clean and well decorated. As we toured each room our bags were brought to our bedrooms. All bedrooms are very large with large bathrooms. The living area is huge and the bar well stocked. This villa had a pool table and swimming pool directly on the beach which gave us activities to do when we were done on the beach. The grounds were well kept. Every morning staff was out sweeping the patio, pruning and making sure everything was well kept. The pool was cleaned every day. The furniture was in excellent shape and a high speed computer allowed us to keep up with family at home.

Staff - Mark our chef, Carole our bartender, Pauly our housekeeper and the many other individuals that worked on the property were the best. Every request was fulfilled with smiles and they genuinely tried to please us every moment. We were not treated as guests, but as family. Mark and Carole would check in with us throughout the day to see if we needed anything. Keisha would come each day and ask for our meal requests and set up any excursions we wanted to participate in. Pauly would chat with each one of us to ask how our stay was going and to engage in a personal conversation – they all cared and were interested in our family.

Food and Drink - The food was outstanding. We had lobster served 4 different ways, seafood and fish cooked to perfection, different types of patties, burgers, chicken sandwiches, curried goat, chicken and broccoli alfredo, fresh fruit daily, soups and salads which I could never recreate at home – 5 star all the way. Drinks were delivered to the beach, in the pool, or anywhere else we wanted on the property. The final nights dinner on the beach was a great surprise and created great memories.

Beach and Activities – The beach is beautiful and not busy at all. Even though there is some foot traffic, the beach is deep enough towards the villas to make it seem like you have the entire beach to yourselves. There are plenty of activities nearby to keep a family entertained. Wensley who is in charge of water sports has great connections and will set you up.

General – If you choose to spend your time at Moon Dance be prepared to never want to go anywhere else on vacation. This is truly the only 5 star resort in Negril. We have stayed at Couples, Beaches, and Breezes Grand Negril, and the extra money spent at Moon Dance is so well worth it. If you price out some of the upper end rooms at these resorts, you may find that Moon Dance will give you the ultimate holiday for not much more. Thank you Moon Dance for creating life-long memories and making us feel like our villa was home.

I just had to take a moment to comment on how magical the Moon Dance staff made my wedding. They exceeding our expectations and Oneika the wedding coordinator did a stellar job from start to finish. To all the brides out there considering this location for your wedding I would tell you to not have any hesitation at all. The staff here will do all within thier power to make your dream day special. The rooms are VERY large and the facilities delivers on its goal of creating an intimate environment for family and friends to get together to reconnect and recharge. I am still getting emails from our guests about what a wonderful time they had in Negril.

We decided to have our destination wedding at Moondance and it was beyond anything we could have imagined. I am a travel agent and have stayed at some of the top hotels in the world, been to Jamaica 11 times, specialize in destination weddings and I must say, the property and the wedding was top notch. We went down to Jamaica to tour the property beforehand because we wanted to make sure it was really as nice as it looks on the website. Be assured that the website doesn't even do it justice. We reserved 4 out of the 6 villas and EVERYONE had the time of their life. While the villas, pools and grounds are beautiful, it's the food, staff and service that makes Moondance exceptional. The food was by far, the best I have had in the Caribbean. Paying $115 per day for the all inclusive for that quality of food is well worth it. If there is a brand of liquor that you prefer and the bar does not have it stocked, just let them know and within an hour, your drink is in your hand. The chefs will do anything to meet any special dietary needs and the bartenders will walk right out to the ocean to bring more drinks (we miss you Jermaine!!). The vendors on the beach can be a little bothersome, but if you pull your chairs back towards the property as opposed to right up to the water where they pass by, they tend not to bother with you. There is security on the beach that will move them along if they think you are being bothered. Now for the wedding....not only was the wedding amazing, Oneika went way out of her way with our rehersal dinner the night before. We were planning on just having a meal together, but they threw us an amazing dinner party. Reggae music, the tables decorated in the colors of the Jamaican flag, flowers and amazing food made the night really special. The ceremony location was simple, but so beautiful. They decorated everything for the reception so beautiful from paper lanterns in the trees to illuminaries around the pool. Oneika is there from start to finish that day to make sure everything goes smooth and on time. Floral fantasy did an amazing job with the flowers and the steel drum band during cocktail hour was so fun. The bartenders even made signature cocktails for our cocktail hour to match the wedding colors. I could go on and on about how amazing Moondance is! Overall, everyone agrees that Moondance is a very special place that we will return to many times in the future!

I went to Moondance Villas to take photos of a wedding. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were courteous and very pleasant. I would only be happy to go there again for another wedding. It has the perfect beachfront and the sunset is a must see. Great romantic settings for weddings.

Our children are all grown now and two of the four were recently married. One of my sons was home on leave before a 2 year military deployment so we wanted to have a getaway family vacation. Our travel agent booked us in the Moondance Villas, Negril, Jamaica for a 6 day stay the last week of May 2010.

We stayed at Ginger Breeze, a 5 bedroom villa right on the beach. Everyone had their own air conditioned room and there is a large family room that opens to the veranda and the private pool. The master suite is very luxurious and lacked only a good reading lamp in the sitting area. It is a beautiful villa but oddly the new exterior paint job was left only partially completed.

The staff consisted of a cook, barman/waiter, and a housekeeper. There was always a security person on the grounds and lifeguard / beach-tender. Meals were excellent and served at the outdoor gazebo by a very pleasant and professional young gentleman who was an attentive and talented bartender. Every day the compounds manager would stop by to get meal preferences and arrange any activities new wanted. The villa and grounds are kept spotless and neat decorative arrangements put on the beds each day. Our pool was great and we also swam in the shared, slightly larger, pool one day.

Beach vendors were often too pushy but they would not come up onto the private grounds. The security person was always watching closely. The kids all went to a late night concert where Stephen Marley played till 4 AM and the guards were keeping track of them.

The staff took care of every thing we needed or wanted and we tipped them a total of about 12% of our villa cost at the end of our stay, split according to tradition.

After researching locations online for my destination wedding, I decided that the offerings of Moon Dance Villas were too good to pass by. We booked Bay Whisper, one of the 5-bedroom villas, for our party of 10 which included friends and family members. From the get-go everyone associated with MDV from the reservations agent (Miriam) to the wedding/events coordinator (Oneika) was so kind and accommodating. Every request was "no problem" and we had a fantastic vacation and dream wedding.

The bus that was sent to pick us up had complimentary beer and water, and upon arrival we were greeted with smiling faces and rum punch for all. The accommodations themselves are spectacular. Our 5000sq ft villa was a dream home, with everything we could have needed and more. I cannot say enough about the MDV staff, who really make this place so incredible. Our chef, Robert, created incredible meals to suit all tastes; our bartender/server extraordinaire was Wendy, who always had a smile on her face and we all took to her instantly. I was really impressed with the fact that we had the same staff members for the duration of our weeklong stay, as we were able to get to know each of them better and feel very comfortable having them around. Truly lovely people.

We booked all outings and activities through MDV, and were not disappointed. The snorkeling, shopping trips, and sunset catamaran cruise were all so much fun, and we always felt very safe and at ease. We really spent a lot of time on the beach, so it was great to have on-site security at all times to help keep vendors at bay without feeling like we were being guarded at all.

I worked with Oneika for months in advance of our trip via e-mail to ensure that our wedding was totally personalized. I really cannot express what a wonderful job she does - our big day was absolute perfection because of her. The decorations, the atmosphere, the food, etc... everything was beyond what I had hoped for. The additional costs for things like a hand-made arch and covered chairs were very reasonable, and ended up being even less than anticipated.

One thing that I would recommend to most is to opt-out of the all-inclusive package (unless you really eat and drink a LOT)... we ate 3 full meals a day and had several drinks each daily and at the end of the week we each only paid about $45 per day for food and drinks! They base the cost of meals/drinks on the actual cost of the groceries needed to make the food, and we couldn't believe how inexpensive it was.

All in all, MDV was easily the most accommodating resort that I have ever experienced. We had a perfect week, and a perfect wedding. I can't wait to go back sometime, hopefully sooner than later!

Everything is wonderful at Moon Dance! We stayed in the Lilac Mist 1 bedroom for our honeymoon from Dec 7th-Dec 12th (we were on the island from the 1st-7th at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, where we had our wedding with 55 guests). This was a welcome change after the hustle and bustle of our wedding. They really do create a great relaxing atmosphere and you will not need to lift a finger for your entire stay! We LOVED our butler, Johnathan and our chef, Neil. Neil made the best food we have ever tasted. It was so easy to get used to ordering what ever your heart desires and having it served to you when you request. Neil makes the best pumpkin soup with garlic bread! I would never think to order pumpkin soup but it was so tasty we ended up having it a part of both lunch and dinner every day. I kept having grilled cheese with dill pickle cravings and he would whip them up right away. He is a really excellent chef (wonderful fish, chicken, pasta dishes...we had 10 people over one night for a dinner party and they are all still raving about the food.) Neil was kind enough to give me the recipes I requested so I can give them a try at home. We wanted to get massages and we had Lance and his partner (her name began with a “C” I can’t remember) came down and set up their beds in our living room and they gave the BEST massages ever. Lance had me so relaxed, I fell asleep!! No doubt about it, we will be going back and requesting both Johnathan and Neil. Johnathan's margaritas are to die for, not to sweet or heavy. It was fun to have them around all week. Johnathan is such a cool guy and he even burned the Taurus Riley CD for us to take home with us since it was what we had been listening to all week. The beach is private with white sand and clear water, the grounds are lush and the house was even more beautiful and HUGE in person. We even found a ton of real starfish in the water on our first morning there. Moon Dance is a little piece of heaven and is perfect for a family/friend getaway or a honeymoon. We also did our TTD photo shoot at Moon Dance Villas and Cliffs and got some GREAT shots, it's the perfect background! The Travel Channel was there filming Samanta Brown’s show which will air in April about weekend getaways to Jamaica. HELLO TO JOHNATHAN AND NEIL WE WILL BE BACK, MON!!!
