Me and 30 family members stayed at Nirvania and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The place was clean and well kept and the staff was very accomodating. If you are looking for a quiet safe place then Nirvania is for you. There are no on-site restaurants but there are several restaurants and bars in walking distance. I have no complaints.

so good we came back
so good we are planning on going back next year

Jamaica is - for us a spot like few others. we love the food the culture the people and of course the beach

Nirvana is a perfect spot for us. us being my girlfriend and myself or a group of 4 or a family of how ever many.
Nirvana can handle it - last year 4 of us stayed in a cottage and had more then enough room and comfort. everything is open air and with the great weather little more then a fan was needed

this year the 2 of us stayed in a suite basically on the water. we lived on the patio if we were not at the beach. the AC was never turned on, we found it funny to even have one.

both spots provide a kitchen or kitchenette allowing us to save money by taking care of ourselves. of course a short walk can get you to any number of places to eat - be it road side or sit down by the water

one of the best things about Nirvana is the place is all beach front, not a restaurant taking up the hole area. a beautifully landscaped property from right past the gates all the way to the water

in a tie for the above best thing about Nirvana are the people.
the Gottlieb's are great people and easy to work with - our super last minute travel plans didn’t throw them off at all, they worked with us and are motivated to help you have a good if not great time. they take great pride in there property.
once there the staff although small is 2nd to none. everyone is colorful, friendly and will treat like family. the friends we have made here have only further strengthened our bond with both Nirvana and Jamaica.
they say just ask and they mean it - trusted taxis, good spots to eat, trips, etc.. you just have to ask

whether we're lounging on the 7 mile, playing dominos by moon light, or setting out for a day trip. for us and every one we talk to Nirvana is our home base in Jamaica

thank you Lonnie, Joan, Bonnie, Moses, and Shine who taught us the game of dominos. and everyone else i didn’t mention

The property of Nirvana, located in the center of Negril's Seven Mile Beach, is beautifully lush with a variety of fruit, nut and palm trees scattering the property. The groundskeeper does an excellent job of keeping it perfectly manicured everyday, all day.

Although there isn't a bar/restaurant located on the property, there are tons of places that serve delicious food (all I ate was fish) and cold Red Stripes. A few properties to the north is a restaurant called Rainbow Arch that serves delicious Jamaican cuisine for very, very good prices. I highly recommend it.

The NIrvana staff did an execellent job of making sure we had everything we needed. From the security guards "shooing" away all the undesirables, to housekeeping maintaining cleanliness in and around our rooms everyday, we couldn't have asked for a more accommodating staff of people. Nirvana is truly lucky to have such a wonderful group of people working for them.

It was just my wife and I that took this trip, but after seeing how child-friendly the property is, there's no doubt my 2 little girls will be coming with us next time.

If you're looking for peace and tranquility on the Seven Mile Beach of Negril, I highly recommend Nirvana for any kind of group you may have.

  • Liked — Location of property on Negril's Seven Mile Beach and the tropical paradise the property sits on.
  • Disliked — No restaurant or bar on property, but we wouldn't have had this problem had we stocked our refrigerator
  • Tips/Secrets — If you can afford it, tip your tour guide/driver well and he will take very good care of you. Be aggressive but respectful in "shooing" away all the locals trying to sell you something.

We stayed at Nirvana based on its high reviews. I would say that we were majorly dissappointed when we arrived. The place was not as clean as we expected it to be. We didn't feel that the sheets were changed or cleaned at all. The staff was not so friendly, and I have been to other places in Jamaica where the staff is much nicer. Take the reviews with a grain of salt, you will notice there are constant reviews (makes you wonder?) could there be something else behind this? There are plenty of places on Negril beach that you will find for this same price, with much more upgrades/ammenities, and I don't mean the huge all inclusives either. That is not my style. Do your self a favor, do more research and find another spot.

This was my first trip to Jamaica and well...

We booked this for our 10th anniversary and thanks to this site, picked the right hotel.

Nirvana is centrally located amongst all the other smaller hotels. Food spots just several feet away on the beach. Good thing since Nirvana has no food amnemities. If there was a downside, it would be this fact. Yes, you can request freshly squeezed OJ (we bought a bottle from vendors on the beach) but when it's 10:00 at night and you're hungry - you'd better have your little fridge stocked. We were in the honeymoon suite which included the little fridge, coffee maker, blender, and toaster. This was enough for us as we were interested in sampling the Jamaican food. Ambience Galore! It was private private private! The room was perfectly situated on top of a private deck overlooking the ocean. The best room in the place! At night you can listen to the ocean since you wanted your windows open to feel and smell the beautiful ocean breezes. In the morning, you wake up to 100's of birds as your room is situated on a 2nd floor. Don't forget to walk around the private gardens.

Downtown to the grocery store or post office meant a cab ride. Thank God for Audley, Nirvana's personal cabbie. He is honest which was hard to find with some of the vendors. He recommended other cabbies when he wasn't available and his strong friendship and integrity spread to anyone he recommended. We took his advice in everything we did.

A word about the country...

Jamaicans are nice. The vendors are pushy. The countryside was sad as there is a huge division of the uber rich and very poor. It took us a day to understand the accent. We took a trip to Mayfield Falls which consisted of a roughly 2 hour drive up the mountains. Several times the road seemed to disappear as it was not well kept. I get carsick easily so I just focused straight ahead with my Ipod. We decided to go to the cambio to use J money. Big mistake. Negril is geared for the tourists and almost everything was in US dollars. It was actually harder for us to buy stuff as we had to keep converting back and forth to make sure we weren't getting ripped off.

So...

If you like Jamaica, Nirvana is an excellent way to experience it. If you're just going for the weather and don't want to see the country, pick an all-inclusive. We did some comparison shopping and Nirvana turned out to be a very good value for your money. Next time we'll bring the kids.

If you are looking for that unique non-hotel Jamaican experience, look no further. Nirvana is a cozy private beach hideaway yet it is right in the heart of 7 mile beach nestled in with numerous beach bars and restaurants. Once you are there, you really never have to leave unless you want to explore other parts of the island. The accomodations were clean and private and the grounds were always meticulously manicured. It's like you are in a tropical paradise with all the plants and flowers that surround you. The staff at Nirvana are very friendly and always anxiuos to assist you when needed. Security keeps a close eye out 24/7 and keeps the higglers on the beach away. I don't think you will find a better place for the money. We were very pleased and felt like we picked the perfect place. Can't wait to come back and chill!

When we first arrived at Nirvana Negril, it was nighttime so we couldn't appreciate how wonderful this place is. The furnishings are rustic and the towels should be updated, but it was perfectly clean.

We wanted two things: 1, a beautiful beach. 2, quiet. Nirvana has both and the exceptional location exceeded our expectations.

We don't like to travel and stay right at our hotel for a whole vacation, so we enjoyed walking to various restaurants each day. The walk is stunning.

The thing that makes Nirvana the BEST in Negril: the beach is BIGGER than everywhere else. We walked down the beach every day, and in either direction, sections are crammed with lounge chairs and/or billboards advertising various events. At Nirvana, the beach is guarded... huge... and most importantly, empty.

Barney, who guards the beach, is helpful in keeping vendors ("higglers") away - no one will pester you here. And, he will gladly arrange jet skiing or parasailing. We were met right in front of the Nirvana for our jet skiing 1/2 hour, which was a blast!

Also, Barney's son is a responsible, safe driver, if you need a taxi.

Joan sells tax-free Blue Mountain coffee from the office, which is much cheaper than at a store.

All in all, you won't find a bigger, cleaner, more beautiful beach in Negril. We recommend one of the upstairs suites for utmost privacy. Feel free to email me any questions!
