“Unforgettable Honeymoon”

Let me first say that this resort is very 420 friendly. Which was a delight for me and my wife. We stayed in on of the cottages, T2 to be exact and it was beautiful. Being woke up to that sunrise is priceless. Wasn't a big fan of the outside shower but hey when in Rome right... the food was so so and the drinks were OK nothing spectacular. This is a great resort to relax, after a stressful wedding it was nice to sit back on the balcony of our cottage, smoke and watch the sunset... there was also a candlelight dinner on the cliff Sunday night which was really nice..... all and all don't expect a 5 star resort when u come because you will be disappointed, but if your looking to chill out and get away from the daily stress of life this place is perfect

Room Tip: Dont stay in the cottages in the summer... no A/C, just a ceiling fan

This was my 6th trip to Jamaica and my 5th time at Samsara. I have always enjoyed the peacefulness of the cliffs as opposed to the beach for getting a good night’s rest and viewing the sunsets. Yet, this resort has the best of both with their sister resort on the beach: free shuttle from Samsara and the use of all inclusive their too. The rooms are very clean and quaint. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations this is not the resort for you, however if you are looking for a comfortable, clean room in paradise at a decent price, Samsara is perfect! As with most hotels the staff is what makes the difference and Samsara has an incredible team. We were treated like old friends; starting with our hotel arranged transfer from the airport, "Captain Ray" welcomed us to the island with true Jamaican hospitality, stopping for Jamaican Patties for the ride. Sharona and Owayne at the bar both welcomed us back warmly; they remembered us from our previous trip which was more than 5 years ago! Camille, Camilla, and Kareem always greeted us with a smile and an ice cold beverage at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Keri-Ann happily prepared our delicious cooked to order eggs and omelets each day for breakfast (this was a nice addition to the breakfast since our last trip). Pauline the manager is really on top of things and you can see her passion for service in her work. Upon checking out we asked Dalton at the front desk how they make their amazing brown stew chicken, not only did he give us the recipe but he even ran across the street to the store and bought us the 2 ingredients we'd need that we might not find in the US. Now that is what I call customer service! I can't thank you all enough for another wonderful stay, we will be back!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the second floor hotel rooms this trip, it was very nice but I prefer the cottag...

We were there the first week of October, 2012.
Lots of rain. Westjet lost my luggage, took till
5:00 p.m. till it showed.
The food is okay, usually some fish at lunch and
Dinner, we chose mostly to eat dinner at Ciao,
As 7:00 p.m. does not work for us.
Zero nightlife here. The bar is in need of drastic
Rehab. Drinks are nothing to rave about.
The kitchen/dining staff very nice. So smile
And thank them, and use the tip box on your
Way downstairs.
Breakfast was a bit of a hassle. Should open it a half
Hour earlier. If you want eggs, it will take 20 mins
Of standing there in line, even if you are first. You
will sweat to death. I lived on toast and coffee by the
2nd day.
The rooms get old fast, stay away from 115-117
As there is garbage there and it stinks, plus there is
A walkway for staff, which woke us up every day
At 5:00 a.m. sounding like someone was trying to
Get into our room, neighbors said the same thing.
If the water is rough, be careful or stay out.
It is what it is, no need for fancy duds here.
We took the shuttle to Legends, we thank God that
We did not stay there, we would have lost our minds.
We would have left. We were there at their lunchtime,
Samsara was golden compared to that!
We saw a drug raid going on at some buildings along
Side. Too many vendors out on the beach. We took a cab
Back as quick as possible.
There was next to no lounge chairs or beach frontage, not
For us at all.
If at the Legends area, go shopping at the Time Square
Good prices, we always do. Love Reggae Walk store.
Went back to Margaritaville always the best at Sundown.
We walked to Three Dives, good stuff, nice and spicy (jerk)
Ate lunch at Choices, not why we had hoped for.
All in all, I think we have seen enough of the Negril side of
Things.
By the way, you can get beach towels for $10.00 everywhere
Else but giftshop. And i always had to go get bath towels
Mid to late afternoon from the office. We basically knew
What we were getting, we did it, we won't do it twice.

Just got back from a week at Samsara -- and it was everything we expected! Before booking our vacation we read many reviews and knew this would be a beautiful, relaxing spot. If you are looking for an upscale resort with 5 star food and pristine facilities, you should probaby look elsewhere...

What we did to make the most of our vacation:

-Upgraded to Oceanview with Air Conditioning
-Packed plenty of mosquito spray & sunscreen
-Packed a few beach towels
-Brought our own hair dryer & travel iron
-Packed a variety of commonly used medicine (Tylenol, Sudafed, Etc)

Food: Average to Above Average Quality; Always Buffet Style; Choice between local Jamaican food and traditional American dishes and best of all FREE DRINKS!

Breakfast (favorite) - Cooked to order eggs, Jamaican specialties & standard basics (coffee/tea, juice, cereal, toast, fresh tropical fruit)

Lunch - Best lunch is a toss up between the Red Snapper nuggets with fries or the Chicken Curry! BBQ Wings were good too!

Dinner - Loved the Jamaican Nights out by the water with live music! Curried Goat, Grilled Red Snapper and Jerk Chicken were a few of my favorites...

On Site Activities: Pool & Ping Pong Tables, Swimming, Cliff Jumping, Snorkeling, Diving (PADI Dive Center) & Spa (Massages, Manicures, Pedicures, Etc) -- And free transportation to sister property Legends on the beach

The highlight of my trip was seeing a spotted eagle ray while snorkeling just feet away from the resort!

What could have been better?
-Jaccuzi was out of service or had cold water during our entire visit
-A towel exchange would have been nice instead of "Remove, wash and then replace"
-Air quality in room was degraded from previous guests smoking inside

If I had an opportunity, I would certainly consider going back to this resort and would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable, all inclusive vacation by the sea!

Room Tip: Upgrade to Ocean View with Air Conditioning

This is a perfect getaway spot with great looking grounds and stunning cliffs that sing a siren song, begging to be jumped off of, into the blinding blue water. This place has fine food, simple rooms, and quiet. Not much else goes on, so you will be bopping around to other areas (sister property on Seven Mile Beach) and other places to eat. But this place works perfectly to relax for a few days, and I'd suggest staying here for a long weekend or a short week. Longer than that and you might want more excitement.

About a month ago, my wife and I stayed at Samsara for three nights. We travel to Jamaica often and have stayed in Negril on numerous occasions. Samsara was OK, but not great. The location and view from the cliffs is obviously magnificent, but the hotel itself was short on the basic things you would expect from a place that bills itself as a resort. Here's a quick rundown: visibly watered down alcohol (Appleton Special is not supposed to be the color of ginger ale); no beach towels (instead your are steered into their gift shop to purchase towels at $15 per); no washcloths; no bath towels for half of the day (housekeeping takes them at about 9:30 for laundering and returns them at about 3:00); pillows that seem stuffed with hay (something not soft); no toiletries (only small bars of soap); air conditioning comes at an extra charge (most rooms don't get a direct breeze); if you opt for the all-inclusive plan, there are no snacks in between formal meal times; and my favorite, no marked areas or advice on where it's safe to jump into the water (instead, we were told "use your judgment"). For the most part, the staff was very friendly. The food was OK: breakfast was the most consistent meal of the day (made to order eggs, fresh fruit, etc.); lunch was touch and go (grilled cheese and french fries were the staples); and dinner was so-so, with the exception of the Sunday evening buffet, which was great, with live music and more authentic Jamaican cuisine. Other guests commented on the lack of on-property entertainment, but that wasn't so important to us. Overall, the feeling was that the hotel cuts corners to save money. While I never regret traveling to Jamaica, we won't be visiting Samsara again.

Room Tip: If you go, get a room with a view of the water and AC.
