“Great Value for a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2014

Sandy Haven Resort was better than expected. We wanted a boutique hotel in Negril that was very comfortable, and this hotel was exactly it. The staff was very attentive and met all our needs. The breakfast in the morning that was included in our rate was subpar (fruit, toast and coffee). The restaurant at this hotel apparently really good, we heard from other guests they loved it but we didn't end up trying it. We rented a car so we were comfortably able to park it at the hotel lot every night. The beach is very very nice! White sand and clear water! The beach does get shady at night with all types of characters selling you drugs and other services, but all together this area seemed safe to us. Out of our 4 nights here, 2 days we had no water pressure intermittently. We were told this was a Negril-wide issue. The flush on our toilet did not work sometimes, we had to have maintenance come in and take a look. The beds/room other than that was very comfortable. Other than these small annoyances, this was a solid hotel that offers solid value for the price. One can relax here and enjoy the beach.

Sandy Haven is a great spot to relax and get away from it all. The staff is outstanding - every single person that we interacted with at Sandy Haven was courteous and helpful. We especially enjoyed meeting Pops, Seki, Orlando, Romaine and the driver Damien. If your idea of a great stay is a staff that is accommodating, ultra-friendly, and will go over the top to meet your request, than this is the right place for you.

On top of the staff, the hotel and grounds are fantastic. The location on the beach is very solid with a nice wide stretch of beach. The hotel is very clean. The grounds and facilities are modern, well kept and extremely comfortable.

In the end, we flew 1,800 miles to stay at Sandy Haven for 5 days and I would do it again in a heartbeat.. If you are thinking about a trip to Negril, Sandy Haven should be your number 1 choice.

Room Tip: Oceanfront view rooms are completely worth it! The view is awesome!

We were welcomed right away and served free rum punch (tasty!). The man who carried our bags was Canute or AKA "Pops". He was very friendly and helpful, we also saw him a few other times during our stay. We were on the top floor which seemed like a hike at the end of the day but not bad. I suggest if you are older or have physical limitations to request a lower level room. Our room was on the same side where the sidewalk was, but we never had any problems with noise (except when Charlies had a party until 4am and we had an early flight) and could wake up and see the beautiful beach. The room was nice and clean. Our housekeeper was Merle and she was very sweet. The only drawback I would say is the same as others; water pressure, but you have to remember you are in Jamaica. I found if I showered in the morning or waited an hour after everyone was off the beach the pressure was fine. Also turn it all the way to hot to get your hot water. We also had a room with two double beds which the double beds seemed small, but it was fine. I did not find the beds uncomfortable but my boyfriend said that they were too hard for him. The beach was the best as it always is in Negril. The Best of the West is the place to eat and drinks are strong and inexpensive there too. We only did the free breakfast once and decided to run across the street for beef patties for breakfast daily because the free breakfast wasn't really all of that (a little muffin and juice).

Hotel had been recently refurbished when I visited and the rooms were clean, modern and comfortable with all the amenities and a daily top up of excellent blue mountain coffee. Nice roll top bath added that touch of luxury and the free champagne with breakfast was a good start to the day (although many people didn't realise it was included). Worth spending the extra to get a shrimp omelette, a breakfast treat which I still crave! The pool was never used, I was always the only person in it and the treadmills at the gym were broken but it did mean I got out for a run and saw a bit more of Negril than just the excellent beach. Staff were excellent and friendly as soon as you got used to Caribbean pace. Beach bar a good start to kick off your evening stroll or to grab a drink before heading over the road for Jerk chicken at Best of the West. All in all a great base for laid back Negril.

Sandy Haven looks even better in person than it does on their website. Everything is very clean and modern. The AC in the room works great! The beds were very comfortable. Seriously, the location on 7 Mile Beach is phenomenal! They have a large beachfront area for the size of the resort. We never had problems finding a lounger. I really appreciated the uniformed security staff that they always have at the end of their property line of the resort on the beach. If you want to deal with a vendor, you have to go off of the resort property.

I felt extremely safe here. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff are very professional yet kind and down to earth. Everyone from the ladies at check-in to the male manager to the servers were fabulous! Their french press coffee is to die for as are their pina coladas. I loved their shrimp quesadillas for lunch...super yummy. We did the all inclusive for half of our stay and it was worth it (to me). I like not having to worry about what I'm ordering and the quality of drinks and food were well worth paying for their top tier of AI (they have different levels depending on what you want).

In December 2014, I'm taking off two weeks from work and one of those weeks will definitely be spent at Sandy Haven. This place is a hidden gem! If you have any questions, please PM me.

Sandy Haven Resort is located right in the middle of Negril, Jamaica's famous 7 Mile Beach!!! The staff and service at the resort is great and very helpful. I stayed at Sandy Haven Resort DEC 21 - 23, 2013. You can lounge on the beach/swim without being harassed by vendor, because the resort has security personnel there. The food and bar at the resort is outstanding!!! The resort is within walking distance of a lot popular bars and hangout spots. The property and rooms are very well maintained. The only cons are that the wifi service was a little weak/slow and the complimentary continental breakfast was average at best.

Room Tip: I highly recommend getting a room with ocean view!

Sandy Haven is awesome. A little boutique hotel with a modern Jamaican twist. It's not All inclusive but they do have packages that include continental breakfast. And their Jamaican Breakfast is amazing! Centrally located on Negril 7 mile Beach, right next to coco la palm. I would recommend this hotel to others and also stay here again myself. We had a beachfront suite that offered great views of the ocean. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It goes take a while of you order room service or request additional services to your room- Caribbean time.
