“Low key, great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

Let me be clear about one thing. If you want a 5 star experience, suck it up and pay for a 5 star hotel. Legends is fantastic value for money. The rooms are basic but comfortable, but you're there for the beach anyway. The food is homey and nothing special, but it's made with love by Big Mama!

We stayed beachside. The air on was noisy, but we got used to it. Nice patio and a decent shower. The furnishings have seen better days, but, again, if you want pristine, go to a Hilton.

The staff are amazingly friendly once you get to know them. They, like most of us, respond to politeness and friendliness. If you're rude or treat them like servants and don't tip, they're not going to knock themselves out waiting on you. If you say please and thank you it goes a long way! We found the ladies really took to the kids. So much so that when my sister and her husband visited as a couple a few months later, the staff asked not only about their kids, but mine, too.

If you go all-inclusive, there are some limits on the types of drinks you can order, but there's still plenty of choice. (And for the love of all things holy, go easy on the rum punch. They do NOT mess around...) if you can, order a la carte one night and have lobster 'pon de grill. It's worth the extra money!

Tip Michael the beach attendant at the start of your trip and he will make sure you have loungers, shade if you want it, and will keep an eye on your things.

Room Tip: Ask for beachside to avoid having to cross a busy road. There is a crossing attendant, but it's...

We Stayed at the Legends from april 7th to april 14th 2013, upon arrival, we werent too impressed....
room was below average, bathroom door wouldn't close, an hour after our arrival the maid came and took the nice bedspreads off the beds, they are just to welcome you :), I have to say that the room service was excellent and the room was made up everyday, Very Clean!! Bring your own toilet paper and tissues....very low quality...
FOOD: WoW!!! the food was excellent, Mama's Stir Fry is Wicket Good!! She will do Everything in her power to help you, i have food allergies and whenever i couldnt eat on the menu she she'd make sure she tell me so i dont get sick. Their A La Carte Menu is Fantastic, eventhough i had an all inclusive deal, i wine and dine twice and wasnt disapointed. they dont serve wine in the all inclusive deal, they sell a glass of wine 10$, but if you ask their permission, they let you buy your own wine and put it in the fridge for you and serve it for your dinner. Wich i didnt mind, a bottle is 8$ at the nearby convenience store.
We were on the BeachSide and it was perfect, a bit noisy but nothing kept me awake :)
THE BEACH: Nothing like it!!! its an experience, Michael the Security Guy is just amazing, he made our trip, we were 2 ladies travelling alone and he made us feel safe, he sees everything and he's quick, so you're not bothered by the peddlers on the beach.
Donavan at the gate is Awesome too, very kind young Fella :)
all the girls in the restaurant are very nice, very friendly and helpfull :)
dont forget to go see the very lovely young lady in the gift shop, she is very friendly and helpful, hugs and kisses to her xoxo
Overall....We would go back in a heartbeat!!

Rooms are clean, most of the staff is friendly except for a few of the ladies at the bar. Bathroom only has bath towels, no face clothes or hand towels. We didn't take the "all inclusive", thank goodness as the food was mediocre. The beach is absolutely beautiful, Michael, beach security guy did an awesome job and is very pleasant.

Room Tip: Request a beach side room otherwise you have to cross a very busy street (although there is a traffi...

We had a terrific time again as expected... We love the beach and people watching and Legends has the best of both... Of course there is a bunch of these hotels along the beach and each is probably special in their own way but Legends is our favorite mostly of because of the location...the only reason to use a cab is if when you go to the west end of town to the cliffs which is a must for everyone at least for a sunset or food... Legends is right next to all the evening entertainment so they don't offer music at Legends which makes it much easier to sleep at night... Dis regard previous comments... Bring everything you need to be comfortable... Legends is a safe clean hotel right in the middle of everything, it is not a big resort like on the other end of the beach.. We didn't do all inclusive this time just so we could go out more.. In the end we spend about the same both ways...We did tours on the beach with a guy named Shalom ( life guard shirt and capt hat) Tell vendors no and they move on, but they will ask again no matter what hotel you stay at...Michael is still our favorite person we have met in Jamaica, specifically at Legends.. We are planning our next trip already and we will stay at Legends... Thanks...

My husband and I spent a fabulous week here. We read the reviews online before arriving and we just found what we were expecting: very kind and friendly staff, an excellent location and a beautiful beach! The bathroom is not really well equipped so just be sure to pack shampoos and soaps, hair dryer and extra towels for the beach and for the shower. The bed and the pillows are not the best, but we adapted and it was fine for just one week. Legends is one of the few hotels always fully booked through all the year, and now we know why! We loved it and we are definitely going back again!

If you just need a place to sleep this is your place. The room is very simple and unmodern. Its like the room perfect for the spring breaker.
LOCATION LOCATION!! Great location. This is a great place to go if you want an inexpensive trip and just have the basics Do Not buy meal plans or any all inclusives at this hotel a major waste. The staff is ok. Not friendly just very businesslike.
This hotel is worth the cost and perfect if you want to just have a bed, shower and place to lie on the beach
Plus its by so many other places, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and the beach is nice.
Rooms are clean and the restaurant is decent

My boyfriend and I stayed at Legends on the Beach for 6 nights. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, well airconditioned and large. The pools, one small one on beach side and a large pool on the garden side.
Legends has a garden side or beach side. Eventhough the garden side is across the street, someone from the resort is there to help you, by stopping the traffic (I called it the caddle cross). If you want a peaceful environment while sleeping, book the garden side, if you want to be close to the beach and party till 4:00am with blasting music, book the beach side.

The only thing I had a small problem with was the food. It was not very tasteful at times, and they repeated the same meal practicly every day, a change from fish, chicken, beef and pork, but not all at once, each night you had a choice of two, plus french fries or mash potatoes that are from a box, or rice. Only one dessert to choose from. Breakfast 7:00-10:00, lunch 12:00-2:00, and dinner from 19:00-21:00 and nothing served in between. No snacks, no fruit etc. There are no chips from snacking, and no grill with burgers etc as you want. We found 7:00pm quite long from 2:00am.

Room Tip: Garden side rooms are quiet, beach side party all night.
